Becoming a foster parent for a dog was something I always wanted to do. I have experience with dogs, as our family includes two Saint Bernard dogs. I also have volunteered for hundreds of animal related events and have donated countless hours to animal shelters and various rescues. I have never, however, fostered a dog, but I wanted to get more information about it, so I e-mailed One Tail At A Time, expressing my interest. I found out that they provide you with all the necessary materials you need to foster a dog, including food, crate, leash and collar, toys, and medications if the dog is taken them. I was impressed with the information, and was happy to actually speak with another foster parent who was very encouraging about her experience.

Before you can offer your home as a foster home, you need to fill out the application and then undergo a screening process with one of the Foster Coordinators.

If you would like more information on how you can become a foster parent for a dog who needs help, or if you want information on other available volunteer opportunities with One Tail At A Time check out their website at http://www.onetail.org/volunteer/foster/.
