One Team Uses the U-Turn Wisely on the Amazing Race 16

Reality Rehash
The Amazing Race had a slow start but with a close call in the end, and yet again thanks to a twist in the leg, the finish was once again surprising. While on their trip from Germany to France, thanks to a production bus, Joe got a big head and it could have cost him the game. Joe has had a bad knee for awhile now and after saying he's just as strong with the bum knee as without, the Detectives got a bit peeved. That would come into play a bit later. The teams were never told that they arrived in France, but should have been able to tell thanks to the Flags flying all over the place. Their first mission was to find a baguette, such a simple task but with this stupid of a cast many had issues... issues finding the clue IN the baguette.

For this part of the leg most teams arrived in the order they left. The point I was making above was that the clue was baked into the baguette which some didn't understand. They were expecting a clue, like Jeff and Jordan who after getting lost for about an hour, found the place and took five minutes to ask for a clue. Now this was JEFF doing so, not Jordan for once, but still I mean why would you get a piece of bread but no clue? Still my favorite team though, go JeJo! Ok onto the Detour, by the way anyone else annoyed at how the Cowboys say it? They had two tasks involving War against the Germany. Either crawl under barbed wire while dressed in army gear, or crawl through the trenches and transcribe a Morse-code sentence. Everyone decided to crawl, some didn't like it, but they still decided to do so.

Those who complained included the mustached Detective, Brandy (who was hating it SO much that she was crawling that she called everyone who did that task a "stupid person") and Jordan. Jordan HATED crawling, since her hat kept falling off, but she had to do it anyway since they were in last place. And with that I'm getting ahead of myself. Since they were spared elimination last round, Jeff and Jordan had a speed bump. What they had to do was build up the wall in the trench, once they finished that the could complete the Detour and continue on. Well continue on complaining when it came to Jordan.

Still I'm ahead of myself, so let's backtrack a bit. The Detectives finished the Detour first and found the Blind U-Turn. They decided to do either of the two teams behind them Alli and her dad or Joe/Heidi. Since they were annoyed at Joe's bigheadedness during the bus ride, the guys decided to U-Turn he and Heidi, forcing him to prove his strength and forcing the two to do the Morse-code task. That left them switching to the Morse code task, the only one to do so. There they had a ton of trouble and as teams began riding their bikes to the Pit Stop and checking in, Joe/Heidi struggled at the U-Turn task as Jeff and Jordan caught up.

Just when it looked like those two would be fighting for last place, Caite/Brent forgot a clue and had to return to the Detour to find it. They were supposed to walk South of the task and ended up going all the way around to the wrong clue box. They didn't lose any ground though as they still checked in last place. With Jeff and Jordan passing Joe/Heidi they knew that they were out of the race and decided to just let Phil come to them. Jeff and Jordan were excited to still be in it, even after getting lost, fighting and having the extra task but in the end Joe/Heidi were out of the race thanks to the U-Turn. Probably the first time it was smartly used but hopefully not the last.
