"One of Those Days"

Jersey
It's just one of those days.

My reward for braving it

Out of the warm security of bed and blankets

Is an icy avalanche

Full of coincidence and calamity.

Today, I have the disastrous touch.

I can botch any job,

Shatter the unbreakable,

And do the unthinkable,

Without even trying.

"It's really nobody's fault,"

So they say.

"You're just at the wrong place

At the wrong time on the wrong day.

Wouldn't happen again

In a million years or more."

I look up and scream at the heavens,

"Why? Why? Why me?"

Can I go back to bed

And take calamity with me?

Burrow under the covers

And hide embarrassment under my pillow?

Save the world from my disastrous self.

Erase this day.

And forget...

That this was one of those days.

Yes, I have had one of those days. . . well phrased here!

Mike Sutherland beat me to it; some of those days I think I have "one of those lives" kind of a life. This helps; my reward for braving it, is, a million years from now, it won't seem all that horrid.
