Khoury's is one of the best Greek restaurants in Indy. The Khoury family is friendly, and the food is very good. An upscale environment and a hooka bar are definite plusses.

Pros

Convenient location (Broad Ripple)

Classy, yet casual atmosphere

Indy's only hooka bar

Excellent entrees

Cons

Not terribly family-friendly

Sub-par saganaki

Bellydancers only perform sporadically

General Description

I wouldn't bring my kids back, but this is a great place to go with a group of friends or for a romantic night out.

Next time, I'll go for baba ghannooj instead of saganaki.

I'm telling all my friends about the "magic chicken." So yummy!

Bonus: Khoury's features a lunch buffet, so you can get all your favorites for one great price.

Full Review

I entered through the market's door by mistake (since I didn't know the restaurant featured a market), and I was pleasantly surprised by all of the Greek and Mediterranean wares available to diners. If you're looking for baklava on demand, Khoury's market is probably the place for you.

Thinking I was going to enjoy a nice dinner in the restaurant with my family, I was a little disappointed to be informed that only those 18 and over could sit inside due to the hooka. My kids are pretty young, so we were escorted to the patio. The evening was nice, but the restaurant doesn't have a great view, so I was less than thrilled with our table.

More disappointment followed in the form of porous, grey saganaki (flaming cheese), but the salads made up for the appetizer. Khoury's salads were large and flavorful.

The entrees I sampled were wonderful. Our server informed me that his uncle (Mr. Khoury, I presume) developed the recipe for the "magic chicken" I ordered. It was a wonderfully marinated half of a chicken served with rice, green beans and a tomato sauce.

I also sampled a combo plate that featured beef, chicken and lamb gyro meat and shawirma. All were great, and I especially liked the shawirma.

The meals were all reasonably-priced. Appetizers averaged $7, and dinners ran from $15-$25.

Every now and then, you can catch glimpses of local professional bellydancers on Friday and Saturday nights. However, the family doesn't seem to schedule them regularly at this point, so don't plan on seeing a table-side dancer unless Khoury's announces a special event.

Spider Lady say you write a very well. Spider Lady not always agree with you. Spider Lady think thank Khoury'shave the best a Tabouli in town. I think that the mediterian and Syrian slection are better than the Greek! But, I think Alex should have belly dancers! What a you think?
