One Tree Hill Actor Antwon Tanner Going to Prison
Antwon Tanner Got Very Bad News from a Judge in His Trial on Thursday
Actor Antwon Tanner is going to prison soon. A judge sentenced Antwon Tanner to three months in prison stemming from a trial that was just completed. It's not good news for Tanner, but it could have been much worse had the judge decided to give him a maximum term for his actions. The actor had admitted to his crimes, though, and that probably led to some leniency from the judge when the sentencing finally came down on Thursday.
Antwon Tanner is probably best known as an actor on the show One Tree Hill. He has been on the show for seven seasons now, starting out as a supporting character that played basketball with the main characters, and slowly evolving into a more important part of the show. After the high school and college years on the show, he became a coach of the local basketball team, and had been one of the key components to humorous moments on the show. Fans know him as "Skills," and he was always fun to watch on the show. One Tree Hill is the show where actors Chad Michael Murray, Sophia Bush, and James Lafferty all got their start.
Antwon Tanner may also be recognizable to fans of film because he was also a supporting character in the movies Never Die Alone and Coach Carter after he spent some time acting on Boston Public. Now however, he will have to keep his acting career on hold in order to serve a prison sentence. The judge officially ordered Antwon Tanner to report to prison on April 30th, where he will begin his three month term at the facility. When that is over, he will serve an additional five months of home detention.
The reason that Antwon Tanner ended up getting caught was that he tried to sell more than a dozen Social Security numbers to an undercover agent. After getting caught, he did admit to the crime and called it a very embarrassing situation. It had been a move that wasn't heavily anchored in intelligence, but it's commendable that Tanner was willing to stand up and take the punishment for what he did.

Post a Comment*shaking my head* I remember hearing something about this, but I didn't research it to find out what he did. Selling Social Security numbers? That makes me wonder was he really making all that much money. Sometimes an actor who looks like he's making beaucoup bucks is making TLC money (they went bankrupt).
What an upstanding citizen. It's slammer time.
Strange when people who already make a ton of money go and do something like this. Hopefully his going to jail will show his fans that this is not acceptable. What was he selling the #s for?
