One Wall Decorating: The Bedroom

When night falls and it's time to slumber in relaxation and sleep so you can face another day. It would be nice to have one wall to focus on and forget the days troubles and challenges. You can look upon it's beauty to relax and banish the stress of a job, hardship or just plain old hard work. There are many easy and affordable ways to create one wall in your bedroom as your center for the mind and with a little imagination you will sleep in beauty and dream of simple things.

First choose one wall of your bedroom. Clear it of all items including pictures, dressers or chairs. Clean the wall with a warm water and gentle soap solution and let dry completely. You will want to make sure the wall is completely dry before you begin any work on it.

Once the wall is completely dry you are ready to choose a color to match your mood. For the wall we are going to create choose a color in a soft sand color or very basic and very light green. When you have decided on the color you need to decide if it matches the rest of the room or if you will paint the other walls to match you focus wall. You do not want your colors to clash because the idea is to relax when looking at all sides.

Choose your wall with the most light. It can be a wall across from the window or the wall with the window if it gives the most light to the room. Measure 4.4 feet from the floor up the wall and across making sure it is level. This will be for easy reach and extended use for the future.

Check at your local home improvement store for wall shelves about 4 inches wide. Most of the time the shelves are for hanging within a space of about 1 to 2 feet, but you are going to choose enough of them to reach from one end of the wall to the other. Mount all the shelves one against the other at the 4.4 mark you have made. Make sure to choose shelves that will fit flush against each other when attached. You can choose in a color or tone to match the wall or paint them the same color. One suggestion is to choose the same paint color in a darker warm tone for effect.

Once the shelves are attached you will need to purchase six bamboo plants with matching containers. Choose the plants that grow straight and tall. Containers made of pottery in a glaze of greens and blues will work well for this theme. Place the plants on the shelf equal distance from each other. If you have a window in the center of the wall place 3 plants on each side.

Now that the plants are in place you can add various touches according to your taste. You can visit your local craft store and buy simple small mirror's to lay flat between the plant. This will give a light and taller affect. The reflection will provide more green and leafy color to the wall and eyes. Mirror's can also be hung between plant and will reflect more light into the room and provide a deep visual feel.

Your wall is now complete and ready to gaze upon as you meditate away the day and fall asleep. There are many other ways to choose a one wall decorating theme with a little help from your imagination. If you choose a nature theme you can find most of what you need in your own yard, hiking or at the local craft store. Don't be afraid to try different ideas.
