One Year at Associated Content - A Few of My Big Hits and Some Lesser Known Favorites

Zane Ewton
May 2007 marks my one year anniversary with Associated Content. I have enjoyed many of the other Content Producers, who not only write great articles but are always very helpful and kind. Even better, I have been able to improve as a writer and get paid to do so. While I haven't quite met the goals I placed for myself at the beginning of 2007, I am looking forward to the next year with Associated Content and the long list of article topics I am currently brewing.

To celebrate one year with AC, I have gone back through my articles and will highlight some of my most popular articles (by pageviews) and several of my personal favorites. You will notice that no articles share time on both lists. In fact, most of my personal favorites are wildly unread.

Most Popular

My list of articles that earned the most pageviews are all (except one) business related. Not only do these articles have more pageviews than the rest, they have considerably more pageviews than the rest. Links to the articles are included.

Role of the Financial Manager

A few people have responded to me that this article is very helpful. I imagine business students might be able to find this useful. I am glad to be of service.

E-Marketing Models

Anyone starting an online business might find this to be useful. The internet is the wave of the future. Actually, it is the wave we are riding right now.

Change Management Theories

No other article of mine has been viewed as much as this one. I honestly have no idea why. It begins with the words, "Change management theories and how well they are implemented can be the ultimate driving factor of success in the organizational change."

Application of Change Models

This article was more of an exercise in applying business change models. That it has earned so many pageviews is really beyond me. Business students might have found it useful. I used to be one, so its great if I can give back a little.

Grand Canyon Skywalk Ready for Business

Just a little stab at writing some news. I thought this was an interesting story that I am sure we haven't heard everything about.

My Favorites

Most of my favorites have very few pageviews, but either the process of writing them or my interest in the topic directly affects how I feel about them. These articles were either fun or easy. I think that translates into the article. Or at least that is what I am trying to translate.

Top Ten Songs By...

Every once in a while I actually get the emails from AC. Back in September '06 I was glad to see the Top Ten Songs By______ article request. Not only was this easy for me, but it is always fun to go back through a favorite artists catalogue. Uncover some forgotten favorites or find something totally new.

My submissions included the Top Ten Songs by Ozzy guitarist and Black Label Society main man Zakk Wylde, indie rock legends The Pixies, one time a simple post-punk band U2, the man in black himself Johnny Cash, and '80s superstars Def Leppard.

Bios of Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff

I love Halloween. Instead of writing about carving pumpkins or stiching children's costumes I wanted to learn a little more about the classic movie monsters. Two men were both iconic actors who still typify the monstrous images they were 80 years ago. They also couldn't have been farther from each other in real life.

Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff were both incredibly fascinating people. I am a little disappointed that AC changed the title to my Bela Lugosi article. It just seems tacky and really cheapens his status as a Hollywood legend.

Lego My Pharoah

Who doesn't love Legos? The Lego exhibits are incredible. None more so than this amazing tribute to ancient Egypt. I also thought it was one of my better headlines.

Body Worlds Exhibit: Plastination and What to Expect

Body Worlds is a controversial exhibit. To actually attend an exhibit is an incredible experience though. It is really akin to an anatomy book opening up and standing before you. I have seen two different exhibits and both offered new insights into the human body and particularly the stresses we put on ourselves.

Writing the News

As a journalism student, I love the news. Great news writers tell the whole story in engaging terms. I haven't done much news writing for Associated Content, mostly because I don't want to just regurgitate articles from other news sources. I would like to add some value to the news writing at AC though. Some of my favorites include "Ethics in Journalism", "How to Write a News Lead", and "7 Essential Elements to a News Story".

Mix Tapes and Lloyd Zeffler

These are two of my most recent articles. I absolutely love music. Mix tapes hold amazing memories for me; I was excited to see that other people felt the same way. Lloyd Zeffler is a fun organization. They are still trying to gain some footing, but they have incredible passion for music and for sharing great music. I love their logo image. It reminds me of being a kid, discovering music all over again.

These were just a few. Can't wait to get started on something else. Feel free to subscribe to me if you like, I'll try not to dissapoint.

Congrats from me too! You have lots to be proud of. Thanks for the inspiring article!

I have read some of the articles you mentioned, including the ones with less page views. I too have found that my best stuff has gotten fewer page views than the "sensationalist" articles I wrote.

Yay! Good for you! I'll be glad when I hit that mark. I joined in January, so I've still got a ways to go, but I've learned so much and know I will learn even more. :-)
