In addition to a collection of over 250,000 items, the Utica Public Library offers access to other collection within the Mid-York library system, a Children's Room with various events especially for kids, genealogy services, a computer lab, free computer classes, a Community Advancement Resource Center for foundations and grants, an art gallery, and community meeting spaces.

For kids and youth:
Annual Youth Poetry Contest open to ages 5-18 submitting their own original poetry. A reception will be held where participants are invited to read their poetry aloud. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served.
Entries are due by March 26th and the reception will be held on Tuesday, April 21st at 6:30 p.m.
In March
Dr. Seuss' Birthday for ages 5 - 8
Leapin' Leprechauns for ages 5 - 8
Story Tots - Wednesdays in March for children ages 1 up to 3.
Pajama Story Time - Tuesdays in March for children ages 3-6.

For Adults:
The Utica Public Library Book Group, meets on the first Tuesday of every month, in the Music Room, at 11:00 AM.
Film Series, classic or controversial films, on the second Tuesday of the month, at 6:30 pm.
Free income tax filing, provided by the AARP at the Utica Public Library on Saturdays from Feb. 7th to April 4th, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Jervis Public Library
Jervis Library in Rome NY has a collection of over 140,000 items, free computer and Internet classes, a computer lab, genealogical and local history research facilities, grant resources, local records inventory that includes directories and RFA yearbooks, homework help resources, and a variety of events for all ages. Their schedule is conveniently kept up to date on Google calendar.
For kids there is story time for young children on Wednesday and Thursday mornings
For families there are Monday night movies at 6 on the second Monday and family story time
For adults there are weekly keyboarding and internet classes, and monthly discussions for both Mystery and Classical literature
There is an annual book fair during National Library Week in April
