Online Bank Review: USBank.Com

Matt Remley
Alright so, I'll be the first to admit that most banking websites are dull, or the service isn't what its cracked up to be. Nevertheless, I have some personal experience with US Bank and would like to do a review of this banks website services. However, before I start talking and scoring aspects of this site, I think its important to give a little history of US Bank and its parent company U.S Bancorp. Since mid 2008, US Bank has been the sixth largest bank in the United States.

US Bancorp was founded in Portland Oregon during 1890, but their current headquarters is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Over the years, U.S Bancorp has developed by the merger of several different banks, including Star Bank that some of you may be familiar with. Now that we have that out of the way, guess its time to take a look at the features of USBank.com.

On the front page of USBank.com, you see many colorful ads, only they are only advertisements for bank features and plans. This page includes links that will direct you to Spanish versions of the page, as well as small business, government, and personal banking links. One thing I like about the U.S Bancorp website is that you can apply for new accounts or loans, including student loans, straight from the first page.

Of course, from the front page you can also find links to check your prepaid credit cards, check mortgage programs, or even find a loan officer. Last but not least, US Bank even has pages describing online security, and members can even get discounts to purchasing anti-virus programs and firewall programs. Next, lets take a moment to log in, of course they have the standard login features and so on, but after logging in you are taken directly to an internet banking page.

On the first internet banking page, you can see a quick summary of some of your accounts, the balances and whatnot. Although, on the side of this internet banking page, you will see links to a message center where you can receive messages from the bank, customer service links, a security center, and a rewards center where you can redeem rewards from certain accounts and get things like gift cards to a variety of nice stores.

One of the best things about USBank.com, is that you can actually do your internet banking on a mobile device, which I assume would need to be compatible with the website. From a mobile device you can do things like transfer funds and pay bills, so you can imagine how convenient that would be. Honestly, I think U.S Bank is a great bank with 5 star service, just like they claim. Two thumbs up!

You obviously don't spend much time doing any actual online banking. US BANK SUCKS compared to just about everyone else out there. Did you know that you can't make a payment to your equity line from an outside bank account? You are forced to use a US Bank account or close your us bank account to make a payment from a different account. In addition, you can't pay bills from an equity line except by writing a hard copy check. WHO WRITES CHECKS ANYMORE when they shouldn't have to.
