Online Dating Experience #1

Greg Seltz
I would like to first and foremost, admit that online dating is not limited to recent experiences portrayed by these dramatic, sometimes clever, and hopefully comical articles. In fact, enlisting in online dating is quite beneficial in foreign countries such as Japan and Korea, or any other for that matter obtaining the obstacle of direct communication. However, as prior experiences concluded with satisfaction, I have thus initiated and engaged my lustful, online persona to seeking relationships furthermore in the United States. This is simply domesticated attempt #1.

Though this particular occasion is a bit belated, as timeframes will eventually reveal, consider how such relations can inevitably shape a newfound veteran. For those interested, the online community responsible for this delicate encounter is provided by OkCupid! The summer was hot, as are most Las Vegas months. As I wait, I recollect the email and text conversations that were the sentimental foundation of the prior week. Excited, yet anxious, I linger around my neighborhood coffee shop awaiting the arrival for my assumed concomitant counterpart.

My regret intertwined within the described scenario is the lack of physical attributes acknowledged. In other words, no photos or pictures were traded; only the trust in a textual description. The entrance to the shop was first accessed by a tall, blond sporting a red miniskirt and a stunning smile. The previously detailed online depiction, of course, did not equate to such radiating presence; nor did she appear to be seeking company. Bachelorette #2 enters. This quaint, conservative little being could hardly relate to the aforementioned features. Instead, standing roughly 5'2 with at least 180 pounds of cargo, a total opposing reflection gaily paraded toward my direction. Her eyes sought the acclaimed rendezvous location as I casually attempted to remain inconspicuous. It was either this or an hour of disinterested small talk before quitting such falsely described depictions. I made no notion to recognize or consider the latter presence as I steadily gazed away from her persona. It was then that I felt a tap on my shoulder.

As I hate to express conceit or euphemism, ironically, it was my date who remains guilty of such. After falsely interpreting lies and misconceptions, I gradually portrayed the amiable companion who disgustingly was too embarrassed to question her sly motives. Fortunately, my coffee eventually got cold, which provided for a more than convenient escape from online date #1.
