Online Dating: Is the Rejection Any Easier?

Almost everyone goes online these days and some even try online dating. Does this mean that the rejection aspect of a relationship not working out or even someone not choosing you on one of those sites like Match.com, work out better for someone? There are so many options to online dating right now that are endless. This also means that there are endless possibilities to get rejected.

So why may people go to online dating as their preference before face-to-face contact, simply because they are not in front of the person when being rejected. They are able to sit at their computer wearing whatever they want and talk to the person without worrying about social etiquette. However, this does not mean they don't experience the rejection, just may mean it could be easier to deal with than in person.

Dating sites are putting limits on who can apply and putting characteristic match-ups as a way for people to connect. Since some don't really wish their true nature to be listed, some lying does happen. In cases like these, rejection can be a bit more painful. You may look at someone online and just have an instant feeling you like him or her, only later to find out he or she were nothing like his or her profile.

"Dear John" letters suddenly become more popular over e-mails. Now when you get your e-mail you can possibly have a warm fuzzy in the in-box saying basically you are rejected. A very personal yet impersonal way to find out what you hoped would work suddenly has not.

Groups are forming all over the Internet for singles to get together for love or other things. Some will flock to these sites as desperation or just to find love. This of course does not mean going online will produce rejection; means that there are so many people out there doing it that caution needs to be advised. This includes online games or worlds such as Second Life, where a virtual world let's you experience everything you would do in the real world. The addicting properties of these games or groups makes the online dating environment more appealing to all age groups.

In looking at everything that is available to date online, rejection does not get any easier. The thought of not having the one you want just becomes personal in a way that makes it impersonal.
