Online Diet Websites - What Do They Offer?

Andrew Halweg
The seems like the hardest part of doing anything is getting started; dieting is no different. We tend to put off things that force us to adjust or change the way that we live. Since humans naturally oppose or reject change, getting started on a diet can be difficult. Thanks to Al Gore's creation of the internet, we can easily search and research many diets online. The amount of information available at our fingertips is limitless. If we have some help selecting the diet that is right for our eating styles, fitness levels and over life habits, getting started on and maintaining a diet doesn't have to be hard. Here is an overview of a few online diet websites that will help you select the plan that is right for you.

1. eDiets.com- This is probably the most popular and efficient diet website available. Users simply answer a few questions regarding weight loss goals and lifestyle questions and eDiets does the rest. It will spit out the most diet that will most likely benefit your lifestyle the best. It takes into account several different individual aspects of life and compares it to the types of diets available. There are also hundreds of resources for low-fat and heart-healthy recipes on this site too. The best part of this site, it is free.

2. Weightlossforall.com- This site takes a little more research on the user's part. Similar to that of eDiets, the user must answer and enter different aspects of our lives including eating habits. This website will take the user's information and formulate a custom diet for each person. This site also has amazing resources such as exercises and support forums. These can be very important tools for those of us that struggle to stay on diets and make them effective.

3. MayoClinic.com- This, to me, is probably the most elaborate site available to us for dieting. Backed by the expertise of the most experienced doctors in the world, this website doesn't necessary create custom diet plans for visitors but it does have value. This site dispels myths about fad diets and educates visitors on how certain foods can benefit or endanger us in our diet plans. The site has a plethora of information on how to make lifestyle changes that will increase the likelihood of dieting success.

4. Dietguru.com- This is one of the few pay sites that I looked at. I did find that what this site offers enough benefit to offset the minimal monthly charge. For under $10 a month, this site gives its subscribers a customized diet plan and support unlike any other. Although most of the time you are dealing with a computer screen, there is a toll-free number to contact a specialist in times of need. The site offers one-on-one coaching to individuals in life changes and moral support. Good bang for your buck.

5. Fitday.com- This site is free, unique and offers many extras to its users. It offers users a long-term analysis for their diets, a diary for their thoughts and a place to detail and organize weight loss goals. It gives nutrition information for just about any food that one can think of including protein and fat values. It also offers a free desktop tool that makes for tracking diet and fitness much easier than other sites.

6. DietsAZ.com- This site really isn't about one particular diet, but offers information about just about every other diet on the market. Browsers are able to quickly research many diets and are able to weed out the ones that aren't right for them. I would use this site as a last resort if any of the other mentioned sites don't offer what you are looking for.
