Online Education is the Safest Place to Earn a Degree Today, Maybe?

Online education is the safest place to study today, maybe?

With today's massacres and tragedies existing, online education seems like the safest place to study/learn and earn a degree.

We are all aware that online education is not for everyone. Those who study online are more fulltime workers, and/or full time parents. Young students that graduate from high school want to experience what's it like to be on your own and prefer to attend a college campus with all the parties, social life, and adventure that exist. However with the school shootings that have been existing, is it safer to prefer online studying?

Do you think that the percentage of students earning a degree online will increase because it's the safest place to earn a degree now?

Will parents feel a sense of relief if their child studies online?

What about sports, social lives, being on your own? How will that affect those that dream of leaving to college and being away from home?

There seems to be a lot of unanswered questions and decisions to make. These massacres are leaving many very afraid and indecisive as to what direction to take when it comes to education. It seems unfair that kids today feel very unsafe within the only place they rely on when it comes to accomplishing and achieving their personal and professional goals.

Gun control is a very important subject being discussed today. However the discussion in the past, as well as presently, have not been enough to eliminate the existing tragedies, or have yet reinforce a better way to decrease the purchasing of guns by individuals who are harming many others for unforgiving reasons. What will it take to decrease these horrible tragedies from existing? At this point, many just can't answer that, or can't find the correct answer to that question. What will it take for our children to feel safe going to school? We can't isolate the children from going to school because that can affect them tremendously. Online school is for adults that choose to attend school online, not for college kids who want to experience the college life.

It seems unfair that these types of situation keep arising. Every time we think that our children are safe in school, another tragedy strikes again, and it always seems far worst than the previous one. What are officials and those who are in charge of keeping communities safe going to do to make us feel safe again? Obviously we don't know at this point. We feel uncertain that anything will be done to improve the safety of all children and college students.

Going to school online is has its advantages and disadvantages just like everything else in our lives. You earn a degree like if you were an in campus student. You take the same classes, complete the same work, and work as hard as an in campus student. The only difference is that you are home, maybe in your pajamas doing your class work and any question you might have, has to be submitted via email. Unfortunately, one important factor about online studying is that patience is required. You have to wait at least 24 hours before receiving a response from your professor sometimes and that can drive some people insane.

Online education isn't for everyone. You need determination, self dedication, and assertiveness to be able to log into class at least five days a week and sometimes teach yourself the lessons that are being introduce and required because you really don't have a professor in front of you to answer your many questions when you don't understand something. Some people can deal with this style of learning, others can't.

However at this point in time, it almost seems far safer to study online than going to a college campus. Even if you sit beside a student in class that seems abnormal, unless a serious disturbing situation happens, school officials cannot remove that student from the class. As unfortunate as these tragedies are, each one has occurred when no one expects them. They are as unpredictable as the student that sits next to you in any of your classes.
