Online Ghost Stories for Halloween Fun

Julie Darleen Durr
Ghost stories and Halloween seem like a natural fit. However, about this time of year while I begin to prepare for the upcoming winter, I like to find stories that will entertain me or make me think. This year, short on time I started looking for online stories that I could read fast, enjoy and move on. Gathered here is a collection of sites filled with ghost stories. A few branch into other horror or sci-fi genres but all of them contain deliciously scary stories ready for those cold evenings when all I want is a good story, a cup of hot chocolate and a snowstorm. For you, these stories may be more appropriate for the Halloween season, but of course, good ghost or horror stories can be read anytime of the year. These online ghost stories for your Halloween enjoyment are only a click away.

Classic Ghost Stories

Horror Masters and Underworld Tales are my top picks for horror classic stories including ghost stories. Both of these sites offer a wide selection of classic horror and ghost stories that promise a frighteningly good time. My only qualm is that neither contained my favorite classic ghost story, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. However, Underworld Tales did have three other horror stories by Dickens I'm anxious to read.

Online Twitter Horror and Ghost

If you are really short on time and just need a quick horror fix, check out Tweet the Meat a Twitter Horrorzine. I feel it is necessary to warn you that these tweets can be rather gruesome. There I've warned you.

Another Twitter account you might enjoy is the Ghost Hunter Blog. The Twitter Tweet titles range from haunted castles to ghost hunts and ancient beliefs.

Largest Ghost Story Collection Online

Ghost Stories, True, Real, Scary Horror boasts that it has over 10,000 ghost stories and invites you to share your ghost stories. Though I didn't particularly like the layout of this site or the lack of atmosphere it did appear to have many, many stories to peruse.

True Ghost stories for Halloween Sharing

An online ghost story collection wouldn't be complete without at least one site of true stories. Here are three sites that will give you plenty to read.

True Ghost Stories and True Ghost Tales both contain chilling accounts of supposedly true ghostly encounters. Some of these short stories may be perfect for that around the campfire Halloween night sharing of ghost stories.

Another large collection of online true ghost stories can be found at Your Ghost Stories. This site claims to have over 5,000 true ghost stories. This particular site is easy to navigate and has a variety of ghost story categories that are helpful.

Interesting Ghost Information for Halloween Fun

While searching the web for the best ghost stories I stumbled upon a few sites that didn't exactly have stories but instead contained helpful information. One in particular, was fascinating. Ghost Web is a site that explains about the orb theory often witnessed in pictures and even offers a course of study about ghosts. The photos and explanations are a fun read.

Happy reading! No, that doesn't sound right. Perhaps a better ending would be; have some spooky good fun with online ghost stories this Halloween. Enjoy.
