Online Hockey Gaming: He Shoots, He Scores

Kevin Choy
Imagine picking up a loose puck at center ice, skating past two defenders and then facing the opposing team's goalie one on one. Your heart is pounding and the crowd has fallen silent. You don't hear a think except the sound of your blades on the ice and the slap of the stick as you send that puck to the back of the goal. The crowd erupts and you are named a hero. Okay, now what about if you can't even stand up in the skates? For many a wannabe hockey player, hockey online gaming is the answer to them feeling like they are not just sitting around and watching other people live their dreams.

Hockey online gaming comes in many different forms, with many looks to the game itself. Depending on the site that you go to, you might find yourself playing on a level playing field with players of your own skill level, or you might find yourself competing with those better than or worse than you. Some sites only allow you to move on to the next level after earning so many points for wins or other accomplishments, but that is not true across the board in the entire industry. No matter how you are matched against other players, make sure that you are familiar with the speed and pattern of the game itself and do not try to play above your own comfort level.

Some of the sites that offer hockey online gaming are free, but many others are pay sites, so make sure that you know which type of site you are visiting. If you do choose to start a membership, make sure you understand if it is a one time only fee or if it is recurring. Another option for hockey online gaming is the online fantasy league where you draft a team and then play games as those players facing off against others who are in the same league. The fantasy leagues are usually split into the free leagues for the more casual, or beginning player and the upper level/ paid leagues. Some even feature cash prizes and trophies for success on the "ice". No matter what, the improvements in these games make them even more rewarding to play- better graphics, more realistic sounds, and more believable looking players make the game seem more than well, a game. Have fun playing hockey games!
