Online Homework Sites for Kids

Alicia Bodine
As your child advances to a higher grade level, his homework becomes more difficult. He may be learning math concepts that were not taught when you were a child. You need somewhere to turn if he needs help that you can't give him. Fortunately, the Internet is full of websites that will provide your child with the help he needs.

Time4Learning

Time4Learning is subscription based at $19.95 per month. It is designed with a full curriculum for children in preschool all the way to eighth grade. If your child needs help, she can just log in and find the lesson plan in her grade that she needs help with. Animated characters will explain the lesson in a way she will understand. Practice problems are then given to make sure she mastered the lesson. After that, she will be able to go back to her homework and complete the problems with ease.

Fact Monster

Fact Monster is a unique online homework helper because it provides the tools students need to research the answers themselves. It contains an Almanac, dictionary, thesaurus, encyclopedia, atlas and various timelines. This is perfect for students who don't have time to get to the library. Students will also find conversion tools, the periodic table, distance calculator and a longitude and latitude finder. Whether you need information for a history report, or help with an English paper, Fact Monster has the information you need.

Tutor Vista

Tutor Vista is an online homework helper that provides one-to-one tutoring with teachers who hold degrees. Tutoring is done through a virtual whiteboard that does not require any special software. Both the tutor and the student can work together on the whiteboard. This type of online help is available instantly, and is specific to the help your child needs. Of course, this service costs money. You can opt for a monthly fee to get unlimited access to a tutor, or pay by the hour if your child only needs help once in awhile.

Public Library

Check with your local library to find out their online homework help program hours. Many public libraries offer this service free of charge. You must have a valid library card, and log-on during the program's designated hours in order to receive live help. Some public libraries even offer this service in more than one language, so check with the library if you need help with something like Spanish.
