Online Resources for Parents of Children with Asperger Syndrome
Parenting Support Links for Asperger Syndrome Families and Care Givers
Asperger Syndrome is just one example of the Autism Spectrum disorders needing many different opportunities for resource assistance online and in-person around the world. Some are parent chat rooms. Others are websites offering professional information and legal rights advice, while still others have summer camps for Asperger Syndrome individuals and high functioning Autistics.
AutismSpeaks is probably the most comprehensive, and popular resource for Autism Spectrum family support online, including Asperger Syndrome and Autism. AutismSpeaks has a huge voice in the legislature as a guard and protector of rights for those who cannot speak for themselves in our U.S. legislature.
The AutismSpeaks project of the month for August 2009 is insurance reform. The website posts a reminder that insurance does not reimburse much of Autism/Asperger Syndrome related therapy, which can cost up to $50,000 per year.
