Online Sales Pitches - Do They Work?

The Right Words Keep Customers Coming Back

Whether your online sales pitch will work depends on several things: how it's written, what it's for, and whether it's believable. If you don't write it to fit your target market, you can't expect people in that market to want to buy it. If you aren't selling something that your market is interested in, they won't buy it. Mostly, though, if your pitch (and your product) is not believable and your target market can't see the value for the money, they won't be buying from you. Your online sales pitch has to get to them, show them that you understand them, and offer them something that they want and that they see as being valuable. Without all of those things you won't get far with most people, and only having a few sales trickling in isn't going to get you to where you want to be financially.

The biggest problem that most people run into with their online sales pitches is making them too 'spammy.' If it looks like a scam, it's probably a scam, at least in the eyes of most people. You could have a completely legitimate product, but if you make it sound 'too good to be true' most people aren't going to take you seriously. They'll be looking for the catch instead of looking for the shopping cart button. Your sales pitch needs to show them right away that there is no catch and that they don't have to worry about being scammed out of their money. Offer them a guarantee. Make sure they have a legitimate way to contact you and that you'll be able to respond to them when they do. Mostly, be honest and up-front with them. Of course you want to sell what you have to them, but not at the expense of having them never come back because they feel as though they were cheated.

Repeat customers are very, very valuable, especially in poor economic times. An online sales pitch that's nothing but a lie won't keep any customers coming back, and you'll be hurting yourself in the long run, even if you make money in the short term. Don't let yourself fall into that trap because you're trying to make some quick money. You should take the time to build up your business, and you can do that through using an online sales pitch that intrigues and motivates potential customers while still being honest about what they get and how much it actually costs. That's the best way to do business and gain the trust of the people who will be buying from you.
