Online Sports Gambling Should Be Legalized Across the Board

Over the past few years online gambling has grown tremendously in popularity. People are able to place wagers on events like horse racing to casino games such as poker. Some people are limited to just playing for fun with fictitious money because online gambling is not legal in all states.

Several times out of the year I frequent different casinos. My favorite games of choice are poker and blackjack. I would prefer to play these games online in the comfort of my own home but I am unable to do this because I live in Georgia, which is one of the states that prohibit online gambling. I personally don't understand what the big issue is with online gambling. There are skeptics in positions of authority that believe that online gambling has destroyed some people's lives. Many state lotteries have also destroyed lives. It does not matter how lotteries are perceived because they are still a form of gambling.

For some strange reason all of the negative aspects of online gambling are highly discussed. There are some positive things that can come out of legalization of online gambling. What about all of the potential revenue that can be generated from online gambling? I am sure that people who gamble online would not reject the idea of having to pay taxes on profits that they have earned from internet gambling. By legalizing online gambling it would eliminate all of these third party international companies that are profiting by providing alternative ways for people to gamble online in states where it is illegal. Many banks have joined the crusade to keep online gambling illegal in some states by not allowing the use of their perspective credit cards to fund accounts on this online gambling sites.

Online gambling should be legalized in every state. If lawmakers put aside all of the negative feelings that they have toward online gambling they will realize that if a tax was placed on it there could be serious revenue generating potential. I personally believe that online gambling is no worse than state lotteries. I am in full support of online gambling being legalized.
