Sierra Koester
Being diagnosed with skin cancer is scary and confusing for many individuals. You may not completely understand all of your treatment options and you may want or need more emotional support while you go through treatment and remission than you are receiving from family and close friends. On-line skin cancer support groups are an excellent way to learn about your condition and treatment options as well as getting the emotional support you need.

MD Junction Skin Cancer Support Group: MD Junction is a website that offers support groups for numerous physical and mental health conditions. One of the groups MD Junction offers is a group for on-line skin cancer support. Individuals who have been diagnosed with skin cancer are welcome to join, post, and give and receive support during this difficult time. The skin cancer support group offers a place to post for support, a place to introduce yourself and tell your story, a place to discuss medicine and treatment, and a place where individuals can talk about things that are not related to skin cancer.

You can join the MD Junction skin cancer support group by going to their website, clicking on, "Support Groups," on the top of the page, and then selecting the skin cancer support group from the, "Cancer," category.

Skin Cancer Connection: Skin Cancer Connection is another skin cancer resource offering on-line skin cancer support for those who are going through it. The forum at Skin Cancer Connection allows individuals to post questions about skin cancer and offer answers to others, recommend doctors and/or hospitals in which to receive treatment, talk about the best skin cancer books, and give and receive emotional support. Individuals can also find support groups in their regions and other resources on the forum.

You may join this skin cancer support forum by going to Skin Cancer Connection and clicking on, "Message Boards," under the blue, "Connect," menu on the top of the page.

Daily Strength Skin Cancer Support Group: Daily Strength also offers an on-line skin cancer support group for individuals who have been diagnosed with skin cancer. This forum is a great skin cancer resource. With this support forum, individuals can ask for advice as well as give it, a place for recommendations, a spot to discuss treatments, and a news and information section. In addition, the forum has a section where individuals can discuss skin cancer related topics in general and give and receive support.

You can join this forum for on-line skin cancer support by going to the Daily Strength support group website for Cancers and selecting, "Skin Cancer," from the list of cancers provided.

Cancer Survivors Network: The Cancer Survivors Network is another website that provides on-line skin cancer support. The American Cancer Society runs this skin cancer resource. This forum only contains one section, but seems to be pretty active. In the forum, individuals can discuss things related to skin cancer, treatment, ask questions, and give and receive emotional support.

If you would like to join this public skin cancer support group, please visit the Cancer Survivors Network and select, "Skin Cancer" from the list of cancers provided.

Topical Info: Topical Info also offers skin cancer support through the Internet. This forum contains different sections in which individuals can discuss topical skin cancer treatments, skin cancer prevention methods, a place where individuals can discuss skin cancer diagnosis, treatments of different kinds, the quality of the treatment received, and so forth, and a place in which individuals can complete surveys and polls regarding this condition. This appears to be an active forum as well.

To join the Topical Info skin cancer support group, please visit their website.

If you have been diagnosed with skin cancer, chances are that you will need more support than your family and friends can provide. Utilizing one or more of these on-line skin cancer resources will help you get the support you need from other individuals who understand what you are going through.
