Online Term Papers - Useful or Scam?

Ted Sherman
C'mon, guys! How can anyone with any sense of honesty even consider this write-your-term-paper-for-buck s racket as anything but a scam? Maye it can be considered OK by the very busy undergrad or grad student who feels the pressure of time and schedule. After all, some believe, you must consider the reality that partying, goofing off and watching the boob tube are much more important activities than actually putting some education into their very thick skulls.

It's bad enough that online racketeers are making money from clueless and lazy students. Add the factor that most of what they're stealing comes from motivated parents who've invested their hard-earned resources in the higher education of their children. Education and on-campus costs, even at the state colleges and universities, is very expensive, and prices are rising all the time.

For example, the recent increase of more than 25 percent at California's state universities is only adding to the burden parents must bear to educate their student children. Just a generation ago, state universities were charging $2,500 a year or less for tuition. Today, the average is shamefully ten times that amount, plus the rising everyday costs of housing, food and other student expenses.

Another factor is that schools, colleges and universities are beginning to fight back. As with book publishers and other commercial writing organizations who already use the system, it is now possible through sophisticated computer software to closely scan any writing, including term papers, for words, phrases, paragraphs and pages that are exact copies of already published material.

The scanning equipment is getting more and more sophisticated as new developments are created, and the process of catching thievery and plagiarism will soon be almost instantaneous. Besides the dishonesty of using one of the phony online writing services, cheating students are getting more and more vulnerable to being caught in the act. This could result in flunking a course, or at the extreme, being kicked totally off the campus. How will the heartbroken parents feel about that?

Beyond the dishonesty of the online term paper writing scam and the terrible costs parents must pay today, the real damage of the online term paper scam is to the students themselves. Instead of using their critical teen and early twenty years to seriously explore and learn valuable lessons of history, literature and other fields of study, they're adopting cheating as a normal way of life.
