Onward to Heaven!

Create Heaven Here and Now!

Sivaramakrishnan Ananthanarayanan
Subconsciously, we look for a better world afterlife, even those who might not believe such a place exists. That concept makes us a little more guarded in our actions and thoughts, and not go too overboard with a devil may care attitude. Heaven and hell are mentioned in most religious scriptures to make us stay rooted to basics and that there will be a reward for a life well lived; or otherwise. After all, true reward should be conferred by the Creator, the ultimate judge of our life and our actions. He has endowed us with certain faculties for us to add value while on this planet. We should be accountable for our actions or lack of it! Fair deal! Ah come on, be a sport!

That concept, in a way, means our life here on this planet, inhabited by fellow travelers, has its limitations. We have to coexist as an insignificant part of the whole with none able to judge us, ensure true justice and rewards. We might have a cynical view that this place is flawed, no point in stretching beyond what is necessary. And even leave in a hurry to reach a more exalted territory to find true meaning and happiness. Leading an altruistic life can be exploited by others and even land us in trouble in a material world, unable to afford certain essentials of life, not forgetting more and more are added to the in tray! For our family's sake at least, we have to go with the flow.

We have added tools over time from the basics that our forefathers had to do with. And the wealth is being added to the family kitty (even debts!). We have machines that can do in a jiffy what it took many to achieve. Certain contraptions of recent origins could not even be contemplated. We have mobile phones and data crunching computers with mind-boggling possibilities. But, have we progressed towards a desirable goal that we all yearn? Yes, heaven on earth? Or is it to be a thought permanently consigned to after life, that we are incapable of achieving here due to our inherent faults? Or lack of trust in the basic goodness amongst us?

It looks like we just it give it a pass, more prone to enjoy all material possessions, toys that can be snatched away, and leaving a higher calling to life hereafter. And also, we have a cynical view of life with daily news more of a tightening daily noose around our necks! We also feel that death is never far away and is just a heartbeat that makes all the difference from leaving this blessed place.

I, for one, believe that we should do all that we can and keep the thoughts of after life as just an after thought. If it happens, well and good; if it doesn't, no hard feelings, just par for the course! But we should make it our bounden duty to sweep our place clean of all negatives to welcome further generations, like our forefathers did with so much less. Are we not mindful to share what we have with others at home; for food, ask our mothers! They reserve the best for the children and even others!

Why not make a real effort in finding heaven on earth than go after differences everywhere, in our looks, thinking, and beliefs when our Creator is the same? He made the whole place possible, from conception to the every nanosecond functioning! If someone meets with an untimely death He is at hand to take him/her back, be it an ant or a whale! Leave it to nature, and I will take care if you fail is His refrain! He reminds us every moment (less than a nanosecond!) of his presence amongst us all. But we only see differences, even others as a nuisance, sometimes, in our lives! A changed attitude is all that it takes to find heaven in our midst. The ultimate truth is we are just part of one and the same. If we work at cross purposes, we suffer! I believe no one is born a criminal! After all, love conquers everything and when the good overwhelms the bad anywhere. But when the good also turns a blind eye, then it is as good as playing into hands of the evil, stoking the flames of hatred.

Heaven is a great concept, where we could see the Creator, be with and guided by Him. But why waste way our precious lives now? We don't have leaders anymore and even the tyrants are on the run. Each one of us can make a difference, and with technology at hand, it becomes that easier by the day. And to think the top China coterie is worried by just a "jasmine stroll" in the park! Let us find bliss here and now!! No time to lose!

  • The Creator has given us everything on a silver platter
  • We tend to look outside our shores to find heaven, even waiting to get to that place
  • Let us unite as one, looking as part of the whole; then heaven is on us here and now!
We leave the higher calling to a life hereafter. The daily news makes us cynical; more of a noose tightening around our necks! Death is just a heart beat away, so why bother is the refrain!

Well done Shiva. Yes, we should be a caring, sharing, and co-existing 'human' race on this beautiful earth.

We all have a chance to create heaven on earth by how we live our lives each day! Wouldn't that change everyone's existence on earth!

A very powerful message siva! Our final resting place will be determined by our beliefs and actions we choose for ourselves while living in this short life...very scary thought - yet most of us do nothing about it. Thanks for the reminder.
