Ooba is a lightly carbonated beverage made with extracts from the hibiscus flower. It is currently available in six different flavor varieties, which include original hibiscus, orange, lime, blackberry, vanilla, and pineapple. Ooba contains only 95 calories per bottle.
How Does Ooba Taste?
Ooba has a very light and refreshing taste. There is a definitely floral undertone, which tastes a lot better than it sounds. Ooba is also lightly sweetened, which to me was the perfect amount of sweetness because it is not overwhelming or cloyingly sweet like most soda drinks. I really enjoyed all of the flavors I tried, but my favorite was definitely the lime flavored Ooba. The lime added a hint of tartness, which nicely balanced the sweetness of the regular Ooba. The lime flavor also complimented the hibiscus flavor very nicely.
The Health Benefits of Ooba
Ooba has many more health benefits than regular sodas. The extract of the hibiscus flower contains many of the same antioxidants found in red wine, which may help regulate high blood pressure and bad cholesterol, as well as improving your overall cardiovascular health. Ooba also contains 100% of the daily recommended value of vitamin C, which has many known health benefits. Best of all, Ooba is completely natural, which is always a health benefit in my book.

Buying Ooba
Ooba is available for purchase online at Amazon, and at Whole Foods and other stores nationwide. On Amazon, a pack of twelve bottles of Ooba sells for about $22.00, which works out to $1.83 per bottle. Each bottle contains thirteen fluid ounces. Ooba is not much more expensive than regular soda and it much more refreshing and is better for you.
The Verdict On Ooba
I recommend Ooba as a replacement for soda and other unhealthy drinks. Like most things, I think it should be enjoyed in moderation and it will not be replacing my daily drinks like water and tea. However, it is a really great and refreshing treat for when you want a healthy alternative to sugary drinks. I know it is not good to judge a book by its cover, but attractive packaging is never a bad thing. The Ooba bottles are designed beautifully, and the hibiscus flower labels are fun and eye-catching. If you want to find a tasty, refreshing, healthier, and completely unique drink, you should give Ooba a try.
