On April 2, 2009 the public is invited to attend the Open House of the Forsyth County JobLink Center which is located at 450 West Hanes Mill Road, Suite 101. The JobLink Center moved from it's Sixth Street location in August 2008 and is opening it's door for tours of the facility. The ceremonies will open with a ribbon cutting and words from local officials at 3 pm with tours beginning shortly afterwards, and lasting until 6 pm. Refreshments will also be provided.

The JobLink Center is home to the Employment Security Commission, Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development Program and representatives from other partnering agencies including: Goodwill Industries of NWNC, Experiment in Self Reliance, Department of Social Services, and others. The Center offers assistance to job seekers. Lines to get in are often out the front door and the Center is also planning its first expansion, with hopes of additional partners becoming housed under one roof.

As a JobLink Center, visitors can receive core, intensive and sometimes training services. With record breaking unemployment claims, the Employment Security Commission has also added intermittent staff to assist visitors with filing claims, job search and moving through the lines more quickly. A career resource center is adjacent to the main lobby where job seekers can utilize computers for work search, resume preparation, registering for work and filing their unemployment claims.

Employment workshops, career assessments, and interviewing is available at the JobLink Center. Employers sometimes use the facility to conduct their interviewing sessions when seeking staff. Bulletin Boards and resources in the waiting areas are available to aid work search and skill development.

Visitors may also see Northwest Piedmont Workforce Development staff for information about Workforce Investment Act (WIA) services on a walk-in basis. There are three weekly orientation sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 2 pm, or individuals seeking more information may sign in on a walk-in basis to be seen as staff are available.

Plan to attend the Open House on April 2nd to see what is available for job seekers. Also, if you need assistance, staff will be available during the 3 - 6 pm Open House to help with claims, job search and resume preparation. Business will carry on as usual.
