Open Letter to My Elected Congressional Officials

111th Congress is Gone, 112th Congress Will Convene Soon

The 111th Congress is gone and the 112th Congress will convene soon. The 111th Congress had the lowest approval rating on record. You were part of the 111th Congress and the low approval rating reflects on you because you were a member of this 111th Congress. In my opinion the 111th Congress was the most arrogant Congress I can ever remember. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi championed this arrogance. The November 2nd election reflected how this arrogance went over with the voting public. Hopefully you have learned something from the November 2nd election. Elected officials work for the voters. Many elected officials think the voters work for them. It is just a matter of time before they are voted out of office. Yes, I am angry at Congress and their attitude and I am confident that I am not alone.

Here are a few issues that concern me a lot. Recently the national debt exceeded 14 trillion dollars. It just took seven months to go from 13 trillion to 14 trillion. This is 95 percent of GDP and embarrassing to the strongest country of the world. It does not take a mental giant to realize that if this path continues the country will collapse in front of us. Recently I heard that every man woman and child owes over Forty-Five thousand dollars to pay off this debt. I am praying that I leave my grandchildren and great grandchildren a country instead of a gigantic debt. It is time for Congress to address this gigantic problem and not just kick the can down the road.

Another issue that bothers me is unelected officials coming up with directives and laws that effect the entire country. For example, The FCC deciding that they have the authority over the internet. Also, the EPA deciding they can regulate carbon dioxide emissions. The Federal Reserve Board also needs to be reigned in also. Monetizing 600 billion dollars of the country's debt is just an end run of Congress and creating a new stimulus bill. This would be like me paying off one of my credit cards by using another one of my credit cards. It is just kicking the can down the road. The price of oil is going up. Why? Because the government is continually printing up money and the more money in the system, the value of the dollar decreases. The price of oil is based on the value of the dollar. Therefore, the price of oil is going up because the value of the dollar is going down. It is just a matter of time when five dollar gasoline will be common.

The time of pointing fingers at the other person for the country's problems is over. Now is the time to work together and solve these gigantic problems before the country collapses. There is a slim chance that the approval rating will go up if Congress demonstrates that they are attempting to solve problems instead of looking for someone to blame.
