Goldfish Tea at 117 West 4th Street in Royal Oak is known for world-class loose leaf teas and tea-related merchandise, but every Friday night they rock, they rhyme, and they perform at open mic night. Host Ken initially had a difficult time getting people to come up and perform, but eventually the guests loosened up and took to the stage to show what they were made of.

There were guitar covers of classics like Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower", a beautiful a capella rendition of Nat King Cole's "Nature Boy", and a delightful piano version of Elton John's "Your Song". Some original and creative poetry was also read. The exotic tea was flowing (I had a delicious mix of pina colada and black tea), and everybody present loved the entertainment.

The tea house itself is very cozy and decorated in hanging oriental paintings and tapestries. If you feel like you want to show off your musical (or other) talent, check it out on Friday nights starting at 8.00 p.m.
