An Attempt to Repair the Weak Link Between Me and You

Lorraine Yapps Cohen

I want to make things right. I want to deliver what you expect for subscribing. I want you to have links to my articles that work. Here they are for benitoite and scallop pearls.

Bad link

If you subscribe to my articles, you got an email notice that I published on Benitoite, California's Gemstone . You then clicked the link expecting the article to appear. It didn't.

Many of you thoughtfully left comments on my other articles or sent a personal note saying the link didn't work. I thank you all for that; I would not have known otherwise.

No help

I had sent a note to Yahoo Technical Help previously on another unrelated issue. I received a very pleasant note of reply saying they were working that problem, although it wasn't yet fixed. It was then that I sent of note of reply to the reply about the bad Benitoite link. That was the last of that issue that was communicated by anybody.

Another bad link

Two days passed when another of my articles, this time on Scallop Pearls, was published and alerted to subscribers. It too had a bad link. Out went another plea to Tech Help to fix the problem. It wasn't. So, I want to provide a link that works to you now, in sincere thanks for following, reading, commenting, and generalized support for what I love to do: write on Yahoo.

Yin and yang Yahoo!

With all sincerity, I would like to continue to do that. Writing here is not only satisfying personally, the readership provides satisfaction with your comments, personal communications, stimulation to research and write on other subjects, reading others' writing, and more.

But Yahoo has let me down. Worse, it has let my readership down. It failed me. It failed you. I need you. Yeah, you can get to my benitoite and scallop pearls articles from my profile page, but only the hardy souls--like Michele Starkey--think of doing that. Yahoo has, essentially, cut the automatic cord between us. Furthermore, Yahoo seems to care little to restore functionality to a technical issue of its own making.

Hope and change

This little bit of writing is all I can do to restore the broken connection between you and me. It comes as a substitute for Yahoo fulfilling its duty to do so, along with a little hope for change coming from me.

I would like to fire my employer for this unfair injustice, but alas, I'm hopelessly dependent on Yahoo and too fond of writing for my faithful followers.

    Thanks!

I ran across your bad link earlier, and knew you would fix it. I, for one, am growing increasingly discouraged by the growing number of technical glitches now afflicting YCN.AC. I wish they'd get things fixed, and keep them fixed.

thank you and if that is an extra beautiful gemstone just hanging around you place, feel free to send it over. I will take care of it and not break the link on the necklace it will settle onto:)
