Open Space

Donna Cavanagh
Sometimes it seems a useless feat
To try and manage the hours in the day
So many twists and turns to handle
Best laid plans seem to slip away

There are days when I just give it up
And throw responsibilities to the wind
Put up my guard and build that wall
Knocks bang at my door, but I don't let them in

Self-preservation is the name of the game
We all deserve to discover our peace
To take some time and find our center
To make the incessant noise around us cease

A respite, not a permanent departure
Enjoy the stillness - even for an hour or two
A return to the calm that has been shattered
Open space to allow our minds to renew
