Open Statement to Those that Feel it Ok to Disrespect Others in Times of Sorrow

Its a Slap in the Face of Humanity

JD
This week I was informed of Michael Perry losing his appeal in the federal courts, this is an issue close to me as I have become involved with investigating the case of Jason Burkett who is serving a life sentence in a Texas Prison. Michael is Jason's Co- accused in the murders of Sandra and Adam Stotler and Jeremy Richardson. Michael was convicted of the Murder of Sandra Stotler and received the Death Penalty.

I was going to post this as a comment however I just have so much to say on the matter, a fellow AC producer wrote a heartfelt piece on this turn of events that have devastated Michael, and Michaels family (did you even realize that those on Death Row have families and people that love them) his piece was an expression of heart break and grief and the only thing he asked was that no snide comments be left and people say a little prayer for Michael his family , Instead one person took it as an opportunity to be rude and disrespectful. it is a common thread that I have seen repeated many times over, and to be honest I am tired of it.

As people as members of the human race its time to stop attacking each other and instead step up and push your own feelings aside and allow those affected by grief recover without adding the nasty comments and unwanted rudeness that seems to be accepted by heartless ignorant individuals.

Regardless of your belief in Michael Perry's innocence or guilt there is a time and place to voice your opinions and on an article that expresses sorrow is not the place. it is inappropriate and distasteful in the worst possible way. Regardless of what you think of Michael this young man does NOT deserve to die. the Judge in this matter and the corrupted officials in Montgomery should be ashamed of themselves and just as importantly those attacking those close to Michael should hang their heads in shame for being as heartless and cruel people that they take pleasure in accusing Michael of being.

I hold my fellow producer in high regard and have come to respect his strength and integrity very much so it with this in mind that I say to him, I know that the denial was a blow but I also know that you will come back stronger then ever and continue to fight for what is right. it is people like you that make the world just a little better.

To Michael, Michaels parents, Taz, Emily , Ken and everyone else affected by this, stay strong, focused and united.

With much respect
JD and Crew.

I investigate social issues. when the innocent pay for the crimes of others, then it is an injustice to us all. true justice should never be denied.  View profile
