Opening Your Mind to the Enthralling World of Spirits and Ghosts

Matthew Shively
There you were sitting on your couch watching television and all of a sudden something caught the corner of your eye. You know there is nobody around but you know you saw somebody. However, you like most people decided to ignore what you saw and just act like it was your imagination. A few minutes later you hear a noise somewhere in your house, but just tell yourself it is the house settling. I want you to think for just a moment and open your mind. Is it possible that spirits have made themselves known to you?

There are a lot of people out there that don't believe or say they don't believe and play the same scenario as above over and over and there are people like me that completely believe in spirits. I have believe that I have been blessed in life with what is called the sixth sense in which I can feel, see, and sometimes hear spirits around me. Is it frightening? At first yes until I realized that spirits like us want to live without interruption. Now I am not talking about demons, poltergeists, or evil spirits that make their presence known to frighten. I am talking about spirits that are trapped in the spirit world.

If you are truly and deeply afraid of the unknown then the best way to cope with such a situation is to completely ignore everything you see, hear, or feel and tell yourself that it was just your imagination playing tricks. If you are curious in the spirit world then open your mind to the unknown and acknowledge what you saw in the corner of your eye as a potential spirit and acknowledge that sound in your house as a spirit that went about his/her normal business. I warn you though, once you begin acknowledging spirits it can become frightening especially if they make themselves completely known to you. Not all people are able sense spirits no matter how curious they are.

Spirits or ghosts are nothing to be afraid of. In fact, most of them don't even know you exist and live as if we were the ghosts. Some spirits know what they are and simply don't want to be bothered. Lastly, some spirits just want direction or assistance with something so they can go on.

I first realized that what I had was known as the sixth sense when I was very young and would constantly see a little boy around. Sometimes he would even jump on my bed at night just to wake me up or write things on mirrors to get my attention. In addition, at certain family member homes I would see spirits roam the hallways of the house in the middle of the night. As a young child I was very frightened. I began to grow older and distance myself from the senses that had and eventually forgot.

A few years ago I began watching, out of the blue, "A Haunting" because it interested me. As I was sitting on the couch with my wife one evening the other television in my living area turned off on its own and shortly after turned back on. I thought nothing of it, but shortly after heard a loud noise upstairs like one of the girls jumping around. However, it was very late in the evening and I knew my daughters were asleep. I began to question the possibility of spirits roaming. So I went and grabbed my camera, turned off all the lights and fans, and began taking photographs inside my house. It is what I saw once I put them on my computer that re-opened my mind to the spirit world.

I have always been a person that was able to read someone from the moment I met them. I can meet someone for just a few minutes and immediately know what kind of person he or she is and potentially what the future would be like if that person was to be in my life. I can almost every single time. Now I am not psychic and can just read people well. I associated this sense upon realizing what I had with the sixth sense that I have. I realized that I could read a persons soul.

What I saw in those pictures was not frightening to me it was fascinating. I saw beautiful orbs of light in a few of the pictures and objects that looked like a translucent person with blur. So I went out on the Internet and did some research. I even called a ghost hunter and him and his guru's came out with all sorts of cool equipment to see if in deed I had spirits within my house. In addition, I took a step further and spoke to a medium on the phone that I had never met. All of them confirmed my suspensions about what was inside my house and around me, spirits. In addition, I found out that I myself am a very strong energy source, which links me to the spirit world.

I have never opened the doors completely as I think of my children and wish not to potentially invite anything negative into my home. However, my senses have amplified and I sense things more often either by site or sound. As an adult I have only been frightened twice since I have acknowledged spirits. Not because they were scary or trying to be frightening, but like a person that jumps out from behind a corner to scare you. It is always unexpected and that is what is more frightening.

The first time was one evening when I was alone in my house sleeping in my bed. I was fast asleep that evening and I awoke to a feeling of comfort and a woman's voice whispering in my ear to wake up. Once I woke up I had this urge to call my wife, whom was in another state on vacation, to make sure everything was ok. Oddly enough, my wife informed me that my oldest daughter had to go to the hospital because a spider had bitten her.

The second time was when I was sleeping again and I awoke in the middle of the night to a little girl dressed in a beautiful dress from what appeared to be the early 1900s. She had long blonde hair and she was just standing next to me staring. Once I came to and the startling went away I reached out for her and asked what she wanted. I later called the medium and I told her how I felt as though she wanted to go on. In other words, go to the light. I took the mediums advice that was given and that night I helped her pass on to where she wished to go and I have not seen or heard her since.

I know some religions out there believe that all spirits are bad and not from God. I disagree with that nonsense. The only reason they say such things is because they for one are taught this in studies. However, if you read the good book it talks about spirits quite a bit. Evil is bad and should be revoked, but good spirits are nothing but Godly creatures that have not completely moved on. In fact, if you go through your house to rebuke a spirit and it remains then what you have is a positive entity.

If you believe you have spirits go on the Internet and contact someone that investigates the spirit world. Most organizations are non-profit or go by donation. So it isn't expensive to get an answer to all your questions. You never know it could be a loved one making contact. Good luck on your adventure into the unknown.

Saying someones beliefs are nonsense is just beeing bias to what you believe in. If you read the 'Good Book' it also says not to consult spirits. It said that Jesus showed himself to people and actually desciples felt the stab wound in his side. So why wouldn't the living be able to see the dead.

Honestly, I don't think anyone has a full grasp of where spirits roam but we have definately seen evidence that spirits are among us. Either that or it's a bunch of demons playing tricks on people. I've heard stories of both.

At with any new thing, safety first. Learn what to do and who to contact if a negative entity has contact with you.

Sounds like we have a lot in common. That is great.

This sounds a lot like me. I'm not afraid. I'm really very interested, but I don't invite anything in. It just happens. I also like watching A Haunting. I love Ghost Hunters and similar shows too. Excellent article!
