Opening Pain Killer Pill Bottles with Arthritis is Impossible

Seniors and Other Hand Pain Sufferers Can Find it Hard to Open Sealed Bottles of Pills

Sondra C
Drug companies have found a new method of sealing a bottle of pills used to kill pain. The pain killer pills are geared to those arthritis sufferers with pain in their hands,

I have arthritis in my fingers. The only thing that gives me some relief from the pain is to take two over the counter pills;

Opening a bottle cap should be easy. Those who take it look for immediate pain relief. It is not easy with a sealer glued tightly on top of the bottle and a tab to pull.

How can a few crooked painful fingers grab and pull that little tag? It slips out of my fingers each time.

I forget to contact the pill manufacturer and tell them about this but, I never get around to it. Maybe if other seniors and pain users would do the same, the newspapers write about it.

Luckily, I figured out a way to open the sealed top of the over the counter pain killer. I keep a small screwdriver in my kitchen junk drawer. When I buy a new bottle of an over the counter pain killer, I open the top of the jar and stab the inside cover. Then, I lift the remaining cover off.

Try it and see if it works for you. If you find a better way to open the seal with arthritis in the hands and fingers, let me know.

A knife with a sharp tip can be used to lift the seal of the top of a bottle of pain killer. Use a small screwdriver as well to make a hole in the top and then use the screwdriver as the tool to lift the rest off.

    my suggestion would be to moisten a sponge. then set it on the counter. then set the pill container on top of the sponge. then press down on top of the container with the palm or heel of your hand and rotate your arm. much easier!

    It does seem you have to possess Herculean strength to open today's medicine bottles~Guess you'll have to woo some eligible bachelor to become your "bottle opener" :-)

    You know, there's a lot of things that are so difficult to open. We're all going to die of starvation!

    how very true! Good iidea with the screwdriver, but stinks we have to resort to such methods. I totally understand, can't even zip my own coat sometimes let alone open one of those bottles.
