Opera in HD. No tux required!

BAM is streaming opera live from the Met and in HD. Could there be a cooler concept?

I live in New York City and work as an editor. I know, glamorous. But actually I make just about as much money (probably less) as the person who stole all the change out of the fountain down the street from me. So when that's the case, it's hard to get to places like the Met to check out some live opera.

Tickets can get pretty pricey, and I for one will not be ripped off when it comes to a performance of Lucia di Lammermoor. So there. But lucky for us operaphiles, BAM in Brooklyn is going to be playing host to a number of the Met's operas, streamed live and in HD.

How cool is that?!?! I am especially excited to check out the Nov. 13 screening of "Don Pasquale" with the rest of the hoi polloi.

Of course it won't be the same as seeing a live performance, but I think it will be a nice respite from trying to sneak my way into the Met under some rich guy's coattails.

There are a number of other operas running through the spring, so I definitely hope to catch more than one. Those stuffy Met people can be sure that there won't be a seat for them should them come around on my watch! Check out BAM on Lafayette Avenue.
