Opera New Mini Browser for Wireless Phones

With wireless service providers looking to increase the number of data packages on their network a better solution was be developed for users to gain an experience similar to the one they receive via their desktop or laptop computers. With the current browsers installed, users have a difficult time adjusting to the line patterns in view. However, with the new Opera Mini, users are finding an application that allows them to view what they want in a way that they are used to.

The Opera Mini is a unique web browser developed specifically for wireless phone usage. It uses a remote server to read web pages before downloading them to a mobile phone allowing the users experience to exceed other browsers on the market. Its Screen Rendering technology is what truly separates it from others in the browser market space for wireless phone providers. With all of the features normally associated with web browsers it brings RSS feeds, content folding, picture uploading, and secure connections for its users.

In using the RSS feed, wireless subscribers are able to stay informed and track those news reports and blogs they follow on their desktop browser or other digital device. With the Opera Mini it analyzes menu items on a particular website and then folds them, allowing for a richer experience with more content space and removal of unnecessary content. Also, users can upload photos directly from the wireless phone to their blog of web picture album seamlessly. Lastly, as with the standard Opera browser, users can do their online banking, shopping, or email with as secure a connection as their desktop.

The current browser problem is two-fold. Similar to the issue AOL users faced in the 90s, wireless service providers push their subscribers to use only websites they have specific profit-sharing agreements with. In AOL's antitrust suit, users want to search the web beyond those sites AOL offered. There was very little surfing being done by AOL users. It was like walking into a shopping mall as opposed to a flea market bazaar with any space available for viewing. The other problem was, wireless phones and their screens were not built for web viewing. So sites look distorted when viewed forcing users to look for their normal operations on a site with them being in a different space than normal.

These two problems have forced data subscribers to look for alternatives. With wireless service providers pushing their own products, subscribers have begun to look for more effective ways to perform tasks using their wireless phone. The Opera Mini is one solution. Since its launch in January 2006, over 15 million wireless service subscribers have downloaded Opera Mini to their phones.

Developing countries may benefit most from the browser war. With the bulk of online connections done via web phones in developing countries, finding a browser that betters the experience will drive up the number of page views as well as the time online. GrameemPhone, Bangladesh's largest wireless provider has over 400,000 of its subscribers using the Opera Mini browser. That against a backdrop where only 370,000 in the same country have wired or standard online connectivity as of last month.

With the Screen Rendering technology optimizing the user experience, look for wireless makers across the globe to make Opera Mini a standard part of their wireless phones. With Java software running in the background, users are able to have phones already on the market rather than having to upgrade to more expensive products.

With AOL suffering such a terrible fate over the last five years, look for wireless service providers to soften their walls and allow subscribers to push beyond their boarders into more of an open access environment. With the Opera Mini able to download web pages faster than a standard dial-up connection, speed will continue to have an impact on the amount of time that users are willing to spend online with their cell phones. And with that growth, service providers will see their data packages continue to grow.
