The children may be poor, in hospital, in orphanages or homeless shelters, in impoverished neighbourhoods, poor countries or refugee camps. These children would not normally get to enjoy that special tingle of festive excitement from receiving a gift brought especially for them but for this remarkable Charity. Gift-filled Shoeboxes
The gift-filled shoeboxes are checked by volunteers at the charity's warehouses throughout the country before being transported to Kosova, Romania, Belarus, Mozambique and Serbia.
Often families, groups, schools, businesses and churches will get together to encourage people to fill their gift shoe-box. Some will fill their boxes with toys their own children have grown out of. Others will buy gifts especially. For schools that are participating, this scheme helps children to become more socially aware, to develop a sense of conscience and responsibility and to reflect on spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues.
Few could turn down the idea of being able to do something special for a needy child to keep the magic of giving alive, and make a difference to someone else's Christmas.
To participate, choose a medium sized shoe box (approximately 18 x 30 x 13 cm). Cover with some Christmas wrapping. Wrap the lid and box separately. Consider whether you're gifting a girl or a boy and mark the box accordingly. Fill the box with gifts. Do not wrap any of the gifts individually.

Post a CommentI am a single mom with 3 kids living outside Austin in a small RV. I do not receive child support or other charities. I am one year away from graduating College with my BSB. This year has been so financially stressed, that at times I feel like there is no hope. But I know that if I can just hold on one more year, I should be able to provide a home and a decent life for my kids. I have no money, and no family other than the kids, so xmas gifts are not even an option. If there are any charities, PLEASE let me know. My oldest daughter is 12, my only son is 7, and my youngest is 4. We live at 24800 IH 35 #111, Kyle, Texas 78640, and our number is 512-590-9383, or the neighbor's is 512-217-2616. Any guidance or assistance is so appreciated. God Bless, and Merry Christmas.
Good article - good cause!
Very sweet idea! We usually give to one or more organizations every year.
Such a wonderful project.
What a loving, compassionate article Carole. But of course, you always write such articles.
