Operation Christmas Child Memories

the Christmas tree, the colorful gifts underneath the tree, mistletoe, the decorations, Santa Clause, Christmas movies, Reindeer, Rudolf and the smells. So many things remind us of Christmas but what are your favorite memories of Christmas?

My favorite memory has to be when I was a kid at school. I was fortunate enough to go to a Private Christian school up until the 5Th grade and every year we would do Operation Christmas Child, the shoebox project. If you have never heard of this, Operation Christmas Child and the Shoebox Project have been around since 1993 and helps those in need all over the world. If you want to learn more, just go to samaritanspurse.org. It was always such a thrill to pack the shoe boxes in class, knowing that we were helping other kids our own age. All you need to do is pull out some standard size shoe boxes and fill it with simple items such as school supplies, small toys and hygiene items. You don't have to put anything extravegant in the boxes, you can even get everything at the dollar store if money is really tight for your family but you still want to do something.

I just clearly remember getting to know my friends better and having such a blast with doing this. Plus, I always bought an over abundance of school supplies at the beginning of the year, so it was always an easy way to put what I wasn't going to open and use to good use. Although a majority of the class I went to school with at the time, we are all in college at this point and have gone our seperate ways, but all of us still have these memories to look back on.
