The 16th Annual Canines, Cats & Cabernet raised over $95,000 on Nov. 9 to help provide quality care for homeless and neglected animals in the community.

Operation Kindness, a no-kill animal shelter in Carrollton, Texas presents the event which is comprised of an auction and various other activities yearly.

The shelter also held a "Keeping Families Together" Pet Food Drive which collected over 6,100 pounds of dry pet food, over 600 cans of pet food, as well as toys and treats for animal lovers facing economic challenges in town. (Source: operationkindness.org).

In unrelated event news, the Texas Hill Country Regional Lighting Trail features eleven communities in central Texas to kindle the holiday spirit with shimmering courthouses. The trail also includes a sparkling shoreline festooned with 130 twinkling sculptures, Christmas markets, and more Nov. 27-Jan. 4.

In other event news, "Eurydice" is being shown at the Undermain Theater, 3200 Main Street in Deep Ellum through Dec. 13. The event is a contemporary retelling of the classic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice by award-winning playwright Sarah Ruhl. "Light Up Lee Park" will be featured at 2625 North Hall Street in Dallas Nov. 29, 6-9 p.m.

"The Magic of Christmas," a holiday-themed musical revue, will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 21 at 300 S. Main Street in Grapevine. Cost is $19-$25.00.

"A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant," a cheeky musical featuring L. Ron Hubbard, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and others associated with the controversial cult is being performed through Dec. 20 at the Circle Theatre. The address is 230 W. 4th Street in Fort Worth.

Jan. 3 the Trans-Siberian Orchestra will perform at the American Airlines Center, 2500 Victory Avenue in Dallas (214-373-8000) with show times at 3 and 8 p.m. Admission is $39.50-$49.50. (Source: Fort Worth Weekly).
