The oldest and largest no-kill animal shelter in North Texas, Operation Kindness, will have Meowgarita and Kitty Kosmo drink specials at an unusual event, all to benefit their agency March 24th.

Join them in the party room from 6-8 p.m. at the Black Finn in Addison, TX and don't miss out on the gourmet pizza buffet featured from 6:30-7:30, a small, silent auction, and goodie bags for cat lovers while they last. A suggested donation of $10 earns you admission, a vote for the cat photo contest, and a raffle ticket.

To donate to the auction, email jgoff@operationkindness.org.

The Black Finn is located at 4440 Belt Line Road, just east of Midway and the phone number is 469-374-7667.

If you would like to enter the Meow Mixer Cat Photo Contest, email staff your favorite picture of your cat to events@operationkindness.org. Contestants will be voted on at the mixer and the winner will be chosen at the event. The winner receives Operation Kindness merchandise and will be shown on the company website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.

Operation Kindness, located in Carrollton, TX, is also having its annual garage sale to raise to benefit homeless animals who live on its premises.

To schedule a pick-up for your items, call 972-438-5463 or visit DonateForKindness.org. Your donations will be picked up rain or shine between 9 a.m. and sundown, according to the agency newsletter. Due to limited storage space the agency cannot accept items at the office.

For more information on the above events, call 972-418-7297 or visit operationkindness.org.

In unrelated pet news, there are urgent puppies at the Garland Animal Shelter in Texas that may be put to sleep at any time if not adopted soon.

Call Luis Martinez at 972-205-3571 to tag an animal for your group. The main number is 205-3570 option #2, then option #4.

The shelter is located at 600 Tower Street and email is rescue@ci.garland.tx.us.

In other animal news, Humane Society International (HSI) was on the ground in Egypt Feb. 18 helping animals and is asking citizens to donate toward the cause at https://secure.humanesociety.org/site/Donation2?df_id=1713&1713.donation=form1&s_src=appeal_egypt&sub_src=021811&JServSessionIdr004=2rx614lw02.app341a.

"While we're not alone in providing hands-on support in this emergency, HSI is dedicated long-range animal welfare work in Egypt," said Andrew Rowan, President & CEO of HIS in a mass email.
