OPI Nail Lacquer in "Lourve Me Lourve Me Not": A Review

The Pen
I saw an ad last fall for OPI's La Collection de France which featured a bunch of "couture couleurs" that I thought were the perfect autumn shades. All of the colors in the La Collection de France were moody and sophisticated and I liked them all.

I have a warm brown skin tone so autumnal colors look great against my skin because they are vibrant but still warm based so I knew that most, if not all of the OPI shades in this collection would be flattering on me.

One of the OPI nail colors that I noticed in the ad was a shade called Lourve Me Lourve Me Not. Besides its fun name, I really liked the color because it was a deep purple shade and last fall I became totally inspired by purple makeup of any kind. So when I saw Lourve Me Lourve Me Not I had to have it.

Lourve Me Lourve Me Not is a creamy deep purple shade that's mostly warm based with some cool tones in it. I loved the color so I went out and bought a bottle of it at Ulta for $8.50.

When I got home I tried on the OPI nail polish and when I applied one coat of Lourve Me Lourve Me Not it reminded me of a wild berry shade or the color of grape jelly, like a dark magenta color mixed with some purple.

When I put on two coats of the OPI nail lacquer, however, it looked more true to the color that's in the bottle. Lourve Me Lourve Me Not with two coats applied looks like the color of Welch's grape juice but it also reminds me of an opaque bloody/burgundy purple.

It's not as intense and dark and moody as OPI's "Eiffel For This Color," that I reviewed earlier, Lourve Me Lourve Me Not is a little happier but it's still quite fierce. I really liked it because it's a chic color yet it still has an edge to it. Because it's a dark shade it would only work during the fall or winter months I think it's a little too heavy and sophisticated for the spring and summer months.

I was pleased with the color and with the quality of the OPI nail polish itself. The color is true and rich, and the OPI polish goes on smoothly without clumping or being too sticky or watery. The lacquers dry quickly and it left my nails looking smooth and silky.

In the End...

I would recommend this shade of OPI to those with warm based undertones who want to wear a flattering purple colored nail polish. I give this OPI Nail Lacquer shade 4 out of 5 stars.
