Katherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson, has authorized the release of the song "Opis None" free online, notes TMZ. She states that this song has never been released before and is authentic. This tune is owned by JacksonSecretVault.com. This company is part owned by Katherine Jackson.

Why is the Jackson family releasing this song for free? Is it an attempt to gain some buzz for Michael Jackson to cheer his kids up at the holidays? Or is the family trying to hype the unreleased songs before they try to sell a collection of them at some point in the future?

Sony about to Release "Michael"

Sony is about to release an album called "Michael" in December. There is some dispute as to whether the songs are all sung by Michael Jackson. The Sun reports that the album was made at the home of the Cascios, who were friends with Michael Jackson. They live in New Jersey.

Katherine Jackson has stated she has her doubts about the authenticity of the "Michael" tracks. Perhaps that is why she has decided to release the track "Opis None" that she is sure is authentic. She seems a strong woman handling all the emotions caused by Michael's death, and also coming out fighting to ensure that his music legacy lives on.

With 300 unreleased songs by Michael Jackson, it sounds like there will be an ongoing flow of his new music coming out in decades ahead. Let's hope this builds security for his children, who will have much to try to comprehend as they get a bit older and learn more about their father.

As each new track is released there will be experts analyzing it for authenticy. There will also be music fans worldwide reading their own ideas into the lyrics. What legacy of music has Michael Jackson left and how will it be impacted by his as of yet unreleased songs?

Everything about MJ will always be questioned and wondered about, just like Elvis. His music did affect the world.

Both Jackie Jackson and his nephew Taj just tweeted that Katherine never authorized release of the song and didn't even know about it. I know, I know, it's tough to know who to believe these days.

This is not a new Michael Jackson song. It is some really bad remix of an old Jackson's song from 1979 called 'Destiny'. 'Destiny' was an acoutic track from the album of the same name, released by the Jackson brothers. This track takes some of Michael's vocals and adds some weird mix to it. It sounds like its been done by some amateur with a cheap computer. I have no idea what Michael Jackson's mum is playing at claiming this is a new song when it clearly isn't. I very much doubt Michael had anything to do with this mix.

The music business is strange. Giving away the music free can also stimulate sales in merchandise. The goodwill gesture is not overlooked by fans.

The day I arrived in Buenos Aires was, coincidentally, the 55th anniversary of the death of Carlos Gardel. Yet, all over the city, you could see signs proclaiming that "Cada dia, canta mejor." (Every day, he sings better.) Seems as if MJ will be in a similar situation.
