Oprah, Dr. Mehmet Oz Tell You How to Get Rid of Your Nasal Allergies with Neti Pot

Spring is in the air. The flowers are blooming, the trees are budding and everywhere you look nature is doing a collective stretch as she awakens from her winter slumber. For most, this may be a favorite time of year but for more, spring flowers equal runny noses and endless sneezes as allergies strike many an innocent person like a spring thunderstorm. What can you do? According to Oprah, you can use the Neti Pot for your sinuses. Oprah, and her good friend Dr. Mehmet Oz, introduced the product on her show and it took off like bee in a flower garden - pun intended.

What's the Buzz About?

Called a "time-honored practice" in the Orient, a nasal wash is used to treat sinus problems, colds, allergies and post nasal drip caused by environmental pollution.

The Neti Pot is actually a pot, or "nose bidet" that you stick up your nose after you fill it with a saline solution of finely ground, non-iodized Neti Pot salt, kosher salt and water.

After you have filled your pot, turn your head over to one side, keeping your forehead level with your chin or slightly higher and gently insert the spout into the upper nostril until it forms a seal. Then raise the pot pouring the liquid into your nostril and it should come out of the lower nostril. If the solution comes out of your mouth, lower your forehead a little.

When the pot is empty, exhale vigorously without pinching your nostrils, refill the pot and repeat the same steps on the other side.

Sounds easy enough right? An audience member, complaining of sinusitis, took up Dr. Oz's offer to demonstrate the product right there on the show.

She has been using it every since and claims to not have had one sinus headache since. An Oprah staffer gave the "nose bidet" a try and says she is now allergy free.
