Oprah Winfrey and O Magazine: Life Coach to the Masses

Oprah Life Coach to the Masses Through Harpo Studios, O and the Oprah Winfrey Television Show

Back in 1987, I was home for a short period of time because the company that I worked for ended up closing, and relocating to Wellsville, NY when I found this myself unemployed and 7 months pregnant.

That was when I first became acquainted with the dreagmgirl Oprah Winfrey and the Oprah Winfrey television show. Before that I had seen her acting in the Color Purple, one of the most moving films I had ever seen. At the time, there were a few other female talk show hostesses on the set, I think Ricky Lake and Sally Jesse Raphael. The other two were fun to watch, but Oprah ways were telling; she tugged at my emotions. She found a way to connect to many, many people and I admired that in her. She inspired many because she was real life and I could respect her because of her struggles. She wasn't just a dreamgirl who had been handed a silver platter, she worked for everything she has.

I researched Oprah one time for a book report for school online college and was not surprised to find that she was one of the top grossing females in the world. She had mastered the art of marketing and of business acumen as far as I was concerned. She found out what people wanted, and she gave it to them. I can respect Oprah's tenacity at working towards what she wants. She is not afraid to work hard.

Oprah's adeptness at finding a niche and marketing herself, and maximizing her position is done with elegance and grace, at least from my perspective. I've never worked directly with her, but I wouldn't mind the chance. She seems like a lady I would want to get to know. The Oprah magazine announces that she is moving on from television but not to worry, the O and the magazine will continue.

Yes she has battled with weight, and some of the people that she has sponsored have been fakes, and the school in Africa situation was unforeseen, but all in all, she is forgiven for being human. Personally, she's had her issues with relationships, particularly with Stedman Graham. In fact, that is why we love her so much. Her reactions are telling; Oprah Winfrey brings out the best in people, and unites them in a way that the other talk show hosts didn't.

In fact, that is what is missing in many businesses these days. Some naturalists might call it heart sense or heart smart, but listening to your heart and being true to yourself, stimulates the mind and actually improves health. Oprah is a life coach to the masses, she uses her television show and magazine to influence the world.

Over the years, I've seen Oprah's wealth and power grow, yet she still remains cool and collected, a passionate woman that is controlled and poised, yet it is very telling, she is a thinking lady - one who remains true to her integrity and her heart. Oprah notes on her O Magazine website, "There is no real power without spiritual power".

In my opinion, she is a person for young girls to emulate, a heroine of our times - a real life American Idol. There are so many stories of discontent that we forget sometimes that there are good things in the world, and Oprah has done well in reminding us this is so.

I, for one, thank her for her last 25 years. I think Oprah has done a wonderful job leaving her mark on society; we can all respect her. She has shown to all of us that hard work, perseverance and doing what you love to do, is the secret to success. I am grateful for her passion and diligence, she is a true American Idol we can all respect.
