Oprah Winfrey Tops Forbes Celebrity 100 List
Each year Forbes sets out its Celebrity 100 list. Depending on a celebrity's media exposure and earnings will decide where or indeed if they make the list.
This year the singer Beyonce made second place with James Cameron coming third. James Cameron is the film director of Avatar.
The highest new entry was Lady Gaga. Her success has come from the fact that her global tour of the past year and her endorsement deals have really boosted her profile and earnings.
But what of Angelina Jolie?
Well she sits at the much lower rank of number 18.
Tiger Woods may have had a bad year personally but he was the only sport star to make it into Forbes top ten.
U2 have made a welcome return back to the top 100 and are now in seventh place with Britney Spears sitting in at number 6.
Winning an Oscar year really helped Sandra Bullock who made an amazing leap from number 92 to eighth place.
Another guy who made a comeback this year was Johnny Depp who now sits in ninth place on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.
Madonna has slipped down the list leaving her spot at number 3 and settling at number 10.
Simon Cowell, the Brit music mogul, climbed 14 places to number eleven.
Coldplay are taking a rest from touring and have recently gone back to the studio and this is reflected in the list as they dropped 20 places coming in at number 35.
Daniel Radcliffe, the star of Harry Potter is number 82.
The Twilight series has also had an effect on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list as actor Robert Pattinson comes in at 50 and actress Kirsten Steward made number 66. Both of these have made the list for the first time this year.
Forbes changed things slightly this year and not only took into account each star's earnings and exposure but also a social media ranking that reflected their presence on Twitter and Facebook.
