"The Big Give" television show premieres on Sunday, March 2nd and will consist of eight 1 hour episodes in which contestants are required to give big to the stranger that they receive in an envelope at the beginning of the show. They only thing they know about that person is their name and what they look like.
They have five days to come up with the best and most creative way to change that person's life. The famous line in the show that Oprah keeps repeating, "Give big or go home." They'll cross the country to find the best way to surprise a person and impact the future their most. Clearly those that don't live up to the judging panels requirements gets eliminated.
The ten contestants were picked from thousands of auditions in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Nashville. Each individual is from a different walk of life making it a little more realistic to the audience.
To spice things up a bit, celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, John Travolta, Danica Patrick, and many more, will make appearances to lend a hand and change someone's world.
At the end, the person who make the biggest difference wins a million dollars from Oprah Winfrey.
While I have to say that as with most shows, "The Big Give," helps to promote a celebrity, in this case Oprah Winfrey, and a few others, and of course it promotes the companies that will be lending a hand like Ford and Sprint, I still think this is a fabulous idea. Even though there is gain for those I've just mentioned, they are still doing it for good reason and in the end someone's life will be dramatically changed in a positive way. More shows should be like this rather than raunchy and pointless like so many shows today.
Not only is Oprah helping those on the show, she is teaching the viewers to do do something positive. Now that is a show I would let my kids watch if I had children. Maybe someday I'll get to tell them about it!
