Oprah's Favorite Things: Shaklee Get Clean Starter Kit

Good Grief! It's Just Cleaning Supplies

Tsu Dho Nimh
The suggested retail price is $134.50, but if you join Shaklee, it's a mere $89.60 plus the cost of the membership. Good grief! It's just cleaning supplies. For that price, I expect them to dust the bookcase for me.

Shaklee's website is long on claims about these products, but short on specifics. They claim "Nontoxic and natural" but don't list the ingredients on the website so that a potential buyer can check them out. They show a picture of the labels, but unlike most brands, the labels do not list the ingredients. They say it's organic, but so are most cleaning products. They claim "You'd have to spend more than $3,400 to get the equivalent cleaning power of the Get Clean Kit." but do not provide data to back up those claims either.

Sorry Shaklee, even if Oprah is raving about it, I can't recommend these products. She's getting paid, and paid well, to advertise your products. I'm getting paid a pittance to give an unbiased opinion. In my opinion, the products are not worth the money or the necessity of dealing with your distributors.

Shaklee is an MLM, just like Amway, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and a host of other so-called "network marketing" companies. Shaklee is really selling the "opportunity" to buy their products. They claim you can "grow your own business in the exploding health and wellness industry". What they mean is that they want you to become a Shaklee member and encourage others to be members as part of your downline. I know, from personal experience, that if you buy this kit or any other product you will be encouraged, and encouraged often, to increase your orders, upgrade your membership, recruit your friends and turn over your friend's names so the distributor can encourage them too. If you have a job, they will want you to encourage your co-workers too.

Is it even legal to NOT list ingredients on these products? And WHY is it so difficult to find out specifically what the ingredients are?

Marnie, better update your list. Basic I has been gone a long time and the Get Clean products were changed from the original as well. Better get an updated list of ingredients Corn and coconut are the main ingredients-sounds DANGEROUS doesn't it?

When one product lasts a full year or even 15 months, you can figure out what you have paid out to clean your windows, mirrors and all glass in your home. Plus dusted all of your furniture everyday, plus cleaned your bathrooms in that year (hopefully regularly) plus cleaned your kitchen through that year again hopefully regularly. How much would you spend on all of those cleaning supplies in a year or 15 months?

I just LOVE the Get Clean products! My mom got a 10 year old stain out of a carpet that professional carpet cleaners couldn't. I've gotten hard water deposits off my tub. I can put my kids to work & it won't hurt them. Everyone I know who has tried these products love them. They work amazingly, are safe for our bodies & the environment. It's a win win situation. Do you know of a window cleaner available on the market that only costs you a penny? You can't beat that price!

I can't agree with those who want to tear down Shaklee. You can dilute the products to save $$$. The Basic G is the best during Flu season, it kills the strep germ. When I clean toilets with it, they stay clean longer. Replace your 1,000s of other cleaning products, have more space in your cupboards and use Shaklee.

I have had a SHKLEE business for 20 years and have used the Shaklee cleaners for many, many years. Evan when I had my cleaning business for many, many years Shaklee cleaners made a huge difference & saved me a ton of money and Shaklee cleaners still save me a ton of money today. The thing is that when it comes to good quality wholesome organic products that are biodegradable, free of chemicals and toxins I rather have that in my home the the store bought cleaners that are highly TOXIC and full of chemicals. Shaklee cleaners are concentrated and therefore you use a few drop in a 16 oz spray bottle. One bottle of the Basic-H will last you a year depending on how much you are cleaning. There are hundreds and hundreds of wonderful uses with the Shaklee cleaners and one spray bottle with a few drops of basic-H and you can clean floors, countertops, walls, mirrors, windows, bathrooms, tubs, sink, great for carpet cleaning and spot removal, gets marks off walls and so much more. Do the homewo

What I dont think alot of you are realizing is that most of the products you recieve in the starter kit are a concentrate. So you delute them with water ...I just ordered mine and I know that one of the products was 8 oz of water with 2 teaspons of basic H so really Im going to get quite a bit of usage out of it ...and save money in the long run. Not to mention improving the health of my family and helping the environment...as far as Im concerned its a win win situation.

Shaklee Fans: If a hotel promises "beachfront rooms" and Google Maps shows that it is a mile inland, I don't have to stay there to write a review that mentions the lack of beachfront. Likewise, I can report on the amazing lack of information about ingredients without buying a product. Shaklee wants to keep the ingredients secret to prevent head-to-head comparisons by consumers. Competitors can take samples to a lab :)
