Oprah's Show on Sexual Predators

I am a mother of 3 kids. A daughter who will be 14 in October, a son who is 6 and a daughter who is 5. I have heard the many stories, documentaries, etc on sexual predators and internet pedophiles. I know it is something that is very real and happens every day, but when I heard the first 5 minutes of Oprah's show on this day, it brought me to tears. I was so saddened and sickened that I wanted to turn the channel, but I wouldn't let myself because I had to hear what they had to say.
To learn that there are actual "how to" booklets being distributed by Internet Predators. Oprah actually went over one of these booklets on her show. Some people commented on her message board about how sick and disgusting it was for her to read that information. Yes, it was very very sick and very very disgusting, but I needed to hear it to know exactly how bad it is out there. If you are lucky like me and never lived through this horrifying deal, you don't realize the real horrors of it until you hear these gruesome facts.

Then, as the show went on, she had 3 very brave young women on there who had lived through this ordeal, but the worst part was, they had no idea until the police contacted them. These young innocent girls would spend the night with their neighbor, their friend. Only to be drugged and molested by her father while they slept. He would video tape these disgusting acts and this would later be what would convict him and save these girls.
How can I now, trust to send my teenage daughter to her friends' house to sleep over. I think all of their parents are nice and decent people, but I am sure the parents of these 3 young women thought the same thing of their neighbor.

What kind of society do we live in now that you can't trust a coach, church member. neighbor or even family members to be alone with your children.
It's bad enough that I cannot allow my 6 year old son to go the public bathroom by himself for fear of some freak crawling under the stall and attacking him while he goes to the restroom.

Regardless of the disgust or bluntness or horrible images brought into our heads, Public Awareness is what we need to help catch these sick guys so that our beautiful innocent children can live the carefree happy lives they deserve.
