Oprah's Twelve Day Holiday Give Away

Win Oprah's Favorite Things!

Past Oprah Favorite Things Shows and Audience Giveaways

Oprah has traditionally given away products during her Favorite Things episodes. Oprah's generosity over the years has been amazing. She has given her audiences such things as To see other items given away, please see fellow AC writer Tony Hamby's article Beetles Galore: Oprah Gives Away 275 Volkswagen Cars. In 2006, Oprah gave away $1000.00 gift cards and explained to the audience she wanted them to use it for the charity of their choice. There have been items such as diamond watches by Philip Stein, washers and dryers, iPod Video, Sony Vaio laptop, Burberry purses and the list goes on.

The Final Oprah's Favorite Things Giveaways

This year's Oprah's Favorite Things episode had to be a two part episode because of the size of it. There were 45 gifts in all, ranging from an iPad Scrabble app at $4.99 to the cars, at $18,000. There will be no taxes on the winnings, as the companies have covered them this year. You too can take part this year, because you can go online and enter sweepstakes to win even though you are not in the live audience. That to me sounds like great fun! I've added the link and directions within this article so you too can take part in the fun.

Amazing but True Past Winners and Watchers Complained About Their Winnings

Hard to believe, but people who won cars the last time actually had the gall to complain they had to pay for the taxes on the cars. They got a car worth thousands of dollars, for free. Apparently not good enough for some spoiled people. If they didn't want a brand new beautiful car, they could have turned it down. I've read comments on other articles about her giveaways saying that the people of the audience could have needed other things instead of the luxury of a car. Well, they could accept it, be happy for the windfall and sell it and pay their debts if they wanted. As we all know, we can't make everyone happy all the time, but the silliness of these complaints gets my goat. People also have commented saying that it is not actually her giving products away, it is the actual company. Even if that is taken into account, everyone wins, why complain? By doing these shows, Oprah has been part of boosting sales to these companies. One as high as a 1000% increase for one company whose product is Clarisonic Skin Care System. So I see no harm in letting people have free stuff, and boosting sales to companies, its all part of helping the economy isn't it?

If I got a car from Oprah, I'd find a way to pay the taxes on it, maybe by selling my 2002 Saturn and using the money from that sale, or by selling the car and getting a less expensive car, using the difference for taxes. You're right. How ungrateful.

♥ excellent - I know a few people who gave up their winning item because they could not pay the taxes, etc. Some of the giveaways now contain a cash option that is less than the prize, but will cover the taxes. Great article :)

That is very nice of her. If only she will share some of her financial blessings with us!

I was reading an Australian report the other day about her upcoming extravaganza in Australia, sending the whole audience there. Some Aussies don't like that they are hanging her trademark O on an iconic bridge across Sydney Harbor (or Harbour, as I suppose they spell it).
