Optimizing Your YouTube Videos Online

Strategies to Optimize Your YouTube Videos for the Internet

YouTube commercials are one of the best tools to promote your business online; but having videos in your designated YouTube channel is not a guarantee that you will make profit. The contents and quality of your videos play a big role on this: ordinary videos and recycled contents just lead you nowhere. In order to produce and upload meaningful videos for your YouTube channel, you must take the time to prepare and review your methods to ensure that everything that goes in your online business approach is acceptable, viewable, and beneficial to all your viewers.

Here are some essential steps that will help you maximize your online presence in YouTube and attract your visitors effectively:

1. Shoot your video using a tripod, especially if you don't have a steady hand. It does not matter if you are just taking a short video; what matters most is stability. Watching a constantly shaking video, even for just a minute, gives other people headache and that will turn them away from your channel. Optimize the lighting for your video the best you can. Do not settle for dark settings and studios with poor lighting; this is disastrous for your business attraction. Make sure that your camera is set to record in .avi or .mpg format: the most recognized formats in video editing.

2. Download the video from your camera to your computer. Depending on the type of camera you have, you may just need to put the DVD from the camera into your computer to transfer the contents. Other method is to connect the camera with a Firewire or USB cable. Newer models of digital cameras and camcorders even support flash drives and memory cards, which allow you to transfer your videos and pictures from your camera into your computer without the use of any wire or cable.

3. Preview the video. Make sure that you got everything captured in your file. If the video quality is poor, shoot it again, until you get the perfect shot. A flawless video is a lot easier to edit, or you can just leave it the way it is.

4. Edit the video with your preferred video editing software like Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, and Magix Movie Edit Pro. Include sound effects, transitions, and titles to make your video more presentable and attractive to your viewers.

5. Save your work as .avi, .mpg, .wmv, or .mov format. The first three are common extensions for most video recorders while the .mov extension is for Quicktime. To optimize your video, YouTube specifically recommends MPEG-4 (DivX, Xvid) format at 640x480 resolution with MP3 audio for best results.

6. Lastly, log on to your YouTube account. Upload the video. Give the optimized video a name, select a category to place it in and add some tags to make it easier to find from a search engine. Adding the appropriate keywords can put your video on top of every search engine list such as Google, Bing and Yahoo search. Do not forget to invite your business partners, family, and friends to visit your channel to see your latest video. You may also share it with your online followers through Twitter, MySpace, Yahoo groups, and other social networking services.
