There are several places out there that provide a whole package and by that I mean one that includes a ceremony site, chairs, the arch, reception hall, catering, cake and even a DJ. The one that I find is the best place to get married and is located all across the U.S. is Wedgewood Banquet. They have different packages depending on what you want. They will even provide the bride and groom with a hotel room, not to mention invitations and response cards all for a reasonable price I might add.
That is just one example of a place to go to. But it also applies to any establishment. Look for an all-in-one package and save yourself both the trouble and money. The attire and photographer. Ah-ha! Very important parts of the event. If you search through the yellow pages, look for a store that specializes in tuxedo and wedding gown rentals, you will save a bundle!
The other option is to ask your relatives if they know anyone with a big backyard who can hold a reception. Renting out a ceremony site costs a lot of money so you're chopping off a good chunk of the money right there.
Lights! Camera! Action! Telling your guests to bring their cameras is not the cheap way of seeing your wedding photos. You want them in a photo album with a large quantity to choose from. So, you want someone professional. I've looked at tons of photographers' websites and even have a cousin who spent $3,500 on her photographer. It certainly doesn't come cheap, right? Well, here's a good way to save money. Either look through myspace or post a bulletin on a local college bulletin board regarding "wedding photographer for hire". These amateurs are looking to build a portfolio and a list of references. You're helping them and yourself out. I prefer looking through myspace because you can see how professional they are and most of them will provide a link to their website, if they have one.
Most importantly, have fun at your wedding. Aside from the wedding costs it is a special time for you, your future spouse and guests. Make it less stressful and come home with more than a dollar in your pocket.
