Options for Home Hair Removal

Many women are learning how to cope with unwanted hair. Women have unwanted hair on various areas of their bodies. Some of the areas are very sensitive such as the face.

The market offers many different types of home hair removal products. Each product promises results that women need and want. So how do women know which product is best for them to use?

In most cases a woman should evaluate her own personal needs and pain tolerance. A lot of home hair removal is trial and error.

The majority of women used the standard method of hair removal- shaving. Shaving is done with a shaving cream or gel and a razor. When shaving, you only cut off the tops of the hairs. With shaving hair grows back quickly and you must shave again. You also have to deal with preventing razor burn.

One of the oldest and tried and true home hair removal options is plucking. Plucking is usually done with a pair of tweezers. Plucking can be effective. However, it is better if only a few hairs are to be removed. Plucking can be time consuming and painful. With plucking, it is difficult to shape an area of hair such as the eyebrow. Plucking is not recommend for large areas of hair to be removed. It is best for touch ups. Plucking takes the hairs out by the root. The effect usually last longer then shaving.

Another popular home hair removal product is wax. I have found that heat wax works best. Prewaxed strips often do not stick to and remove as many hairs as heated wax. Waxing can be done over larger areas. However, it is also painful. With wax, one must be careful to get wax only on the areas where hair should be removed. Again hairs are removed by the roots and the effect is longer lasting.

Some women prefer hair removal creams. The cream is applied to the area of hair and left on for several minutes. It is then wiped away and the hair is removed. This process is not always effective. One must also be careful about allergic reactions to the cream.

No matter which home hair removal product you try, you will likely have to use it over and over again. While plucking and waxing give longer effects than shaving, they still must be done periodically. Unwanted hair is an issue that women must deal with almost daily.
