Oral B Triumph - a Review of the Professional Care 9400 Electric Toothbrush

Is This Really Any Better Than a Regular Toothbrush?

David Jenkins
After a recent visit to my dentist that did not end up as I had hoped I decided to invest in an electric toothbrush as I had heard that some of the newer models were recommended for people experiencing the onset of gingivitis. After doing a little research I decided on the Braun Oral B Triumph Professional Care 9400 series electronic toothbrush.

I purchased the Triumph from Amazon for about $190 and ever since I started using it I have been very pleased with it. One thing I really like about this toothbrush is that while brushing the spinning motion gives you a more refreshing cleaning than my other regular toothbrushes did. I think this is because it does a better job of cleaning up around the gum line and the brush head penetrates better in between my teeth.

Another feature that I liked are the timers on the toothbrush. They alert you to when to change brushing positions and when the recommended two minute brushing time is up. I have actually found that it does not take me as long to brush my teeth when using the Oral B Triumph than it used to because of the timers.

On a less positive note, however, one of the things I noticed about this toothbrush is that after only a month of use the battery charge on it is not lasting as long as it used. For the first month I was only having to charge it about once every two or three weeks, but now I am having to charge it more often than that about every one to two weeks. Hopefully it's ability to hold a charge will not get any worse.

The only other downside is when you get new replacement heads. This can be kind of expensive as they recommend you replace the head every month. The Floss Action Head replacements that I have found cost around $20 for a 3 pack and around $50 for a 6 pack so they will probably still end up costing a little more than buying a new standard toothbrush each month.

Other than that I think Oral B Triumph Professional Care 9400 electric toothbrush gives you a lot better cleaning than a normal toothbrush and after using it for the past few months I do not ever plan on returning to a regular toothbrush.
